Similar here. I figure I'll just wait for everyone to trip over themselves when these players become FAs, hahaha. It's more sporting that way anyways!
  2. And to state the obvious, TOI is the first place to start, so set your lines so your heaviest shooters spend the most time on the ice. But again, no guarantees as I often will have a 3rd or 4th liner randomly lead my team in shots that game from time to time.
  3. Since (most) of us can take a good joke on here, it'd be great to also see more creative awards. For instance, rookie of the year would be a good legit one for a player that is in his first season in GHL (no matter the age) who leads in points or whatever stats you want to toss in. Some other funny ones could be: Best/Worst Goals Per $ spent Worst Plus/Minus Swiss Cheese Award for Goalie that meets minimum games played requirement (~10) and lowest Save % Broken Stick Award for the player with the most Giveaways Open to other suggestions, but whatever award people come up with, please explain your methodology just so we know.

I'm really interested to see how the first time promotions work in version 2.0 and Free Agency. I think the gap is still going to be very steep, but time will tell. Hopefully we get a few more involved managers in the West. I often find myself talking to myself, haha.

I like some of the odd names in the league. Wish some of the mascots and emblems were more creative, but I'll take what I can get. I love the black jersey.

This came up in Biscuit GHL from time to time. Most of the time, we didn't have any CPUs, but when we would, most of us long timers agreed not to trade. But all it takes is one manager, new or not, to start in and it spoils the whole agreement and system. I do think Anders has made CPU trading fairer and I generally don't have a big angst about it now, but I do still see trades go through that seem a bit exploitative. I still think they over value draft picks and total number of players coming versus going. I'd still like to see all CPU trading locked down, but realize that isn't fun or practical for some leagues. Also, it wouldn't prevent some managers from jumping in, messing with rosters and then resigning two days later which I still see going on.
  7. Me too if it seemed like that mattered much in the game! Every season I am usually surprised by who leads or more importantly, does NOT lead, my team in goals. Case in point, this season (albeit a small sample and too many trades to even keep it objective) my highest goal scorer is 92 shooting. Yet my 98 shooting offensive D man only had 4 goals on 111 shots in 80 games! If you break down your stats by goals per shot, then you tend to see the trend towards higher scoring rating = higher scoring percentage, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so I'd rather have a slightly lower rating player shooting more often. For instance, one of the highest scoring percentage players on my team had 6 goals on just 51 shots! His shooting rating is 80! I have plenty of players with higher ratings with less goals. Bottomline, I think there are way too many variables to bank on that alone. Time on ice, won faceoffs, PP time, Tactic based on score of game, tiredness, the opposing goalie, opposing defense tactic, opposing d-men and forwards, etc. Too many variables in my opinion to favor a 95 shooter over a 90 shooter alone.

Clearly this shows the West is the more interesting and exciting conference!

The fact that I finished 1 pt behind have home ice advantage in the play-in playoffs is a major victory for me no matter what happens! Although, I'm clearly the favorite against Turkey Creek, haha! The second half of the season my record was 16-4-2-18. Not great, but considering I was convinced it would be auto relegation around game 45 and did my trades accordingly, kind of crazy. Multiply the second half of the season by 2 and I'd (in theory) would have been competing for 7th or 8th place. Had I not had a bit of an unlucky 5 and 4 game losing streaks in the last 20, I would have been solidly competing for 10th place. Two of those losses were to Steelers! Winning those alone would have brought me within 4 pts of him. Every game really does count! Excited to see what the playoffs bring for all of you, good luck!

Fun game tonight of Elite vs Ricochet. And to think I started my backup because he has previous good stats against them.... Four goals in the first 8 minutes and 6 goals on 11 shots by the end of the 1st period. Hey, at least my PP went 2/3 in the game!

The East is a lot more interesting than the West. Can I shift east since my team doesn't like the time zone for the puck drops?!?!

Took out Turkey Creek's 3rd string goalie in our key matchup! Don't be bringing your scrubs in against me, haha. Actually, thank god he got hurt since he had a shutout going 30 mins in!!
  15. I'm ok with the current, slower development schedule. Also, having the draft for Season will also give teams a chance to juice their development by ideally getting 1 or 2 players that can slide into their starting lines either the current season or 1-2 seasons down the road, very similar to NHL now. I like how some, not all, older players are tanking. I find it realistic, if annoying to have one of those guys. But not everyone plays to 35 as a top 6 player, nor should we expect them to. I definitely don't want to see FAs pop up during the season. As for trading, it's tough to find the perfect balance. I see both points above. I do like the idea of allowing trades and holding them until the end of the season. It's a bit unrealistic, but does allow some "backroom" deals that go on between real GMs to be played out. In fact, maybe not even have the game announce them until after the playoffs are over?!?! Like a big trade/FA day in NHL! Tune in to just see where everyone moved!

Obviously not a trade comment, but has anyone been able to resign any players to new contracts yet? Everyone of mine says "happy with current contract" no matter how good or bad they are.

The dream is dead. After getting 34 points during a recent stretch of 16 games, it looked like Elite were poised to not only climb out of the basement, but make a run for 10th place and avoid regulation. Now losers of four straight against less admirable opponents than during that 16 game stretch, one against said 10th place team last night, there is just too much ground to make up. Still playing for the play-in game is the best we can hope for. My only hope is to beat up on Turkey Creek during the two times I will likely meet them in the play-in playoffs!

Yeah, but I expect a pretty brutal FA season!
  19. Ah, ok, I never open that page because it takes so long to load and I don't ever feel the need to scroll through hundreds of game results, haha. If I am scouting a team, then I go to their schedule page which is easier to read.
  20. Hi, can someone confirm the DAY in the new version that the trade deadline ends? I don't see it listed anywhere on the calendar and nothing comes up in the searches. In the old version, it was last day of the regular season, but I swear it is sooner now. Can someone in one of the two faster worlds confirm when it hit their seasons? Thanks!

bremitt, quick tip, any player marked "Untouchable/UNT" won't be able to be selected in a trade offer, so you won't receive any formal offers. If you want to receive offers for them, then mark them as "Unknown."

So, I trade away my THREE best players, including a franchise player, for minor league players, bench all except 1 line of one-way contract players, start a defense corps at least 5ovr average worse, yet after only winning 7 of my first 40 games, I somehow go 2-0-1-0 including against two legit contender teams!?!?!? Gotta love this game! hahaha.
  23. So not sure if this is related, but I had a 80ovr 1w contract in GHL. Not nearly good enough for GHL, so I thought I'd try to be tricky and release him and resign on a 2way contract. The original contact was 3 years @ $600,000. However, I went all the way up to $4.5M on a 2way and he still refused. BUT THEN, he just resigned with an SHL team for $1.3M!?!?!??! WTF gives? This makes no sense to me. Granted, not every player should want to play for every team, but this just seems odd unless it really just came down to manager Reputation. And if that is the case, then it's going to be hard for managers that have a hard 1st season to get any FAs for season 2 when they decide to go to the better teams first, further making the good teams better and the bad teams worse and we end up right where we were in Season 6 or so of Biscuit. I'm hoping I'm just exaggerating the problem, but is there a pattern showing up?!?!

Any non-2way player is open for negotiations. The dream is dead, ha! Looking for draft picks and two-way players to take with me down to SHL. I've got a few gems, but the results aren't coming. Centers: Abramowicz 89ovr, 23 years old (yo) - 4yrs @ $3.375m Snider, 91ovr,30yo, 3 yrs @ $8.4m Forwards: There are a few 4th line guys worth a look, especially 23 year old Chudik (82ovr) and 21 year old Podda (80ovr). Defense: A couple depth guys for middle of the pack teams looking to get better by the playoffs. Goalie: Glandon, 86ovr, but only 25 yo and with a very nice 5 yr contract for $3.3M per year. Has shown periods of greatness, but his offense and defense teammates always fail him.
