    Injuries

It doesn't get much more even than that, so that is not the issue. I've seen teams play 40% line 1 and 50% first pair D with no problems. My splits are very similar to yours. When players get tired I'll usually adjust special teams as needed.

Actual NFL player photos were introduced in the '98 version. In addition, arcade play was now available to play via multiplayer over the Internet. Audio play-by-play was also added, although it was considered lackluster. Non-NFL stadiums and cities were now available as well and a more precise weather system was also included in the new release. Teams could also create and customize their own schedules. The '98 version also had significant improvements in Internet multiplayer play in regards to stability and match making.

Let me start.. I thought this would be an interesting thread to start here at GM Games. I am really curious to know about how you found out about playing these types of games. We've had several blog entries from our feature contributors telling us their story about how they got started playing sim sports. History: I don't consider myself someone with a great memory lol but here is how I think it all got started and how it evolved. For a long time I have always been fascinated with the statistics in sports. Being a fan, playing sports my whole life, I was always interested in box scores. My grandparents would always have a daily paper and I would grab the sports section and be really interested in reading the box scores that tell a little bit of a story of how the game went. From then on I knew stats and sports, athlete performance had a lasting effect on me. But it evolved further to wondering why teams won, why teams lost, and understand the aspects of a manager or franchise. I think it all started on NES. I owned a copy of Baseball Simulator and my friends in the neighbourhood and I just played the crap out of Baseball Stars. I think my mom at one point had a 40 dollar late charge with Blockbuster on a copy of Baseball Stars being a few weeks late. Man did I ever love that game from the team building perspective, money, salary caps etc. Later on Baseball Simulator was pretty fun, but I think I ended up playing Baseball Simulator 1.000 on SNES more, minus the dumbass magic part of that game lol. Baseball was my sport growing up but I loved all sports and my background being Lithuanian, I have been bred to love Basketball. Along the journey at blockbuster I rented my first copy of Tecmo Super Bowl. I would play out full seasons with my friend during sleepovers and we would almost get a whole season done from early afternoon till about 3-4 am. Losing in the playoffs with eyes barely open was an empty feeling when it was all over, lol! But was simulating it ever fun as well. Stats were realistic, player personnel moves had significance etc. Loved this game. I found some joy in basketball from copies of NCAA Basketball (which didn't simulate well but played well), and played a lot of Tecmo Super NBA Basketball. Tons of fun and loved my mid-range jumpers from the elbows (which normally was a low percentage shot) but loved seeing Michael Jordan hitting those while growing up. From a hockey perspective my first simulation game was Wayne Gretzky Hockey, which I believe was way ahead of its time. As time progressed Baseball Mogul showed up on the scene. It instantly was a hit to me, it took what I wanted these games to become to the level where it made me feel wrapped up in this world. I helped run a league named BMIL that lasted for years until we switched to OOTP .. I have been a user on the OOTP forums since 2002 and I have an interesting private message with Markus from 2002 that makes me smile to this day. As the modern games came out I pretty much played about everything. Countless hours of Championship Manager (CM) even though I wasn't a huge European Football / Soccer fan but the game was just THAT good. Eastside Hockey Manager was developing and the games got more sophisticated. I still firmly believe this genre made some of the most addictive games ever made. If you really believe and are intrigued with a great simulator algorithm and AI world, these games will keep you playing through all hours of the night. "Just sim one more day".. Hey, share with us your story. I would love to hear it personally. I helped create this site so these games, the developers get the attention they deserve, but also, we get a chance to mold the games with the dev's in our desired fantasy world's. What's your story??

    Version 01/02

    997 downloads

Freeware for Windows PC Overview Championship Manager Season 01/02 edition. Sports Interactive left publisher Eidos for greener pastures at Sega. Championship Manager became Football Manager. CM01/02 there was never even a 2D match engine - let alone the fancy 3D one introduced in FM 2009 - to augment the game's iconic text commentary. Champ Man 01/02 is frozen in time, a shrine to an approach to football management games that since went the way of the dodo - where realism takes a backseat to simplicity and fun. But it's also one of the most up-to-date and well-supported football titles around today. Installation Instructions The download contains a '.iso' file. You will need to install either a virtual drive on to your computer to 'mount' the .iso file or you may burn the file onto a blank CD or DVD.

Okay, I found a few more boxing titles. The reviews are a bit mixed on some of these but I figured I would at least mention them. World Boxing Manager (PC/Mac) https://store.steampowered.com/app/563750/World_Boxing_Manager/ World Championship Boxing Manager (PC) - a classic game port https://store.steampowered.com/app/1254860/World_Championship_Boxing_Manager/ Punch Club (PC/Mac) - more of an RPG/Strategy game https://store.steampowered.com/app/394310/Punch_Club/ Title Bout Championship Boxing (PC/Mac/Linux/Android) - outdated but still has a small community of people playing it http://www.titleboutboxing.com/cgi-bin/page?home World of Mixed Martial Arts 5 (PC) - I know it's MMA not boxing, but I still have to mention it because of how detailed, in-depth and realistic it is. I've played hundreds of hours on it, mostly thanks to such a fantastic community with superb modding. http://greydogsoftware.com/wmma-5/ If I track any more titles down worth mentioning, I'll let you know.

    Notable Retirements - Cage

Notable Retire Season 5 - Manuel Wyss - Defenseman A team is only as strong as its weakest link. The big contracts, the scoring titles, and stars of the game often go to the household name stars, but it's the players battling it out on the front lines lower on the depth chart that make or break a team's true success. Manuel Wyss was always in the trenches shoring up his teammates' weakest links. In only five short GHL seasons, he played on five different teams, often going unnoticed on each change in scenery, but always over performing above his expectations. Beginning in Season 1, Wyss began with the Lake Viking Bulldogs. To say it was a tumultuous start to a new league and new team would be an understatement. At 30 years old and a rating of 83ovr, Wyss found himself in a top 4 roll with the Bulldogs. After an 8-12 start, the Bulldogs continued to juggling their lineup, going through 10 D-men on the roster during that first year. Wyss found himself a casualty of that slow start and was traded to Enigma Rage in a swap that included Mario Vuillermet and Rowan Talbot-Gervais (step-brother to Ricky Gervais). Wyss was able to solidify a roster spot, getting 19 pts (8-11) for the remaining 60 games of the season and a 7th place playoff spot. After netting a goal in a hard fought 3-2 series loss to the West Chicago Hawks, Rage's season was over and so would be Wyss's time with the team. At the start of Season 2, after being waived unceremoniously by Rage, the Lightning Bolts picked him up for a two year stint as the team underwent the transition to the Miami Angels. Teaming up with the goalie George Mercredi, Wyss continued to show his ability to outshine some of his teammates as he scored 33 pts (15-18) in a strong depth role. However, once again Wyss found himself on the losing end of a first round playoff loss after going down three games to two in the five game series. The transition to Miami Angels for the team was not successful and Wyss only found himself starting 48 games and by far his worst year of his career. Following Season 3, at the start of Season 4 perennial under performers Eldred Elite picked Wyss up on a no frills one-year, $1.5 million contract. It was a chance for Wyss to prove he belonged in the GHL and Elite to garner some defenseman depth. Starting the season in the AAHL, Wyss made the best use of his opportunity and had 34 pts (17-17) in 49 games before being called up to the top six of Elite and finished the season with 13 pts in 24 games and a 0 +/- rating and a Corsi of 51.7%, all which caught the attention of Elite management of his ability to be a clutch performer in a depth role. With Wyss in his role on the the 3rd line D corps, Elite crawled up the standings to finish strongly in fifth place. Unfortunately, both for Wyss and the Elite, the playoffs ended almost as quickly as they had started and were swept out by the eventual Western Conference champion Victoria Regals. Now at the age of 35, Wyss resigned with Eldred Elite to try and continue both teams late season 4 success at a very paltry $1,147,000 for another year of service. Wyss continued to make the most of his time on the ice putting up a career tying 33 pts (12-21) in 80 games and a +8 with averaging only 14 mins a game, his lowest total ice time of his career. After a strong season both for Wyss and Elite, the storybook season came to an end during game five against the West Chicago Hawks in the conference semi-finals. Wyss played strong for the club putting up four points (1-3) in nine games in limited action as the #6 d-man. Following the season, Wyss was offered another one-year contract by Elite and all indications were that he would return as a strong veteran to help transition the defensemen corps to the new guard that will lead the team over the next 5-10 seasons. Unfortunately, facing age 36 and the current health crisis facing the world, he decided he would now take some time to spend with his family and go out on a high note with his season with Elite. Some champions never get rings, but will always be remembered by the fans and fellow players for what they bring to the rink each and every day. Manuel Wyss finished his career after five GHL seasons with 310 games, 50 goals, 75 assists, and a takeaway to giveaway ratio of 85/8.

    Season 5 Individual Goals

Third of the season update: 1) Rafael Bolduc - 89 OVR Forward ... most GHL goals. Bolduc has 13 goals and is currently 6 goals back of the leaders (Whitely and Breton, 19). Probably not possible to catch them as they are playing lights out, but a Top 5 finish in goals for Bolduc would be a success. Bolduc now at 31 goals, currently tied for 5th, and 5 back of Elie-Breton. Still eyeing that top 5 finish, hoping for top 2. 2) Kvido Zluky - 86 OVR Defenseman ... most GHL Points by a defenseman. Zluky currently has 17 points. Leader has 24. I expect a late season surge. Although he will have to catch his own teammate first, Nickerson, who has 22. Zluky has 43 points. The leader has 54. This one is slowly slipping away. He is currently 3rd in +/- and the pair of Zluky-Nickerson is Corsi 60 and PDO 70. Can't ask for much more. 3a) Henri Pohl - 83 OVR Goalie ... I want this guy to win Vezina. Given his low endurance and the fact that my team wins might be lower than usual, I don't think that is possible. Instead, I am going to try and get him 50-55 starts with the goal of GHL's best save percentage. Abort! Abort! I folded on this one early and I'm not happy about it. But Pohl shouldn't have been as bad as he was. Oh well. Time to move on. 3b) I will play the hot hand in goal and Pohl will be given a long leash to keep the starting job. In the event George Mercredi earns the starting job from Pohl, the same goal applies. This guy has been a dud as well. A couple of games ago he blew a 4-0 lead halfway through the second. High expectations for a pair of Heroic veterans did not work out. 4) Svend Clausen - 82 OVR Forward ... most GHL Points and/or Goals by a rookie. Another dud. Clausen has 1 point in 10 games and has spent most of the season in the AAHL. My goals for the less skilled players were a bit unreasonable. Lesson learned. 4 points in 20 games. All assists. Hopefully he bounces back next season with a more consistent role. 5) Jeremie Cline - 97 OVR Center ... best GHL +/-. Cline is sitting at +18. Leader is +24. This can change in a blink. Cline is a +38. The leader is +46. This one is still in reach, although there are 2 other Stealheads, Nickerson and Zluky, sitting at +40. 6) Any single player on the Stealheads to record a Gordie Howe Hattrick. If accomplished, that player will earn a $2M roster bonus. Not yet, but hopeful. Still nothing. Very disappointing.

    Season 5 Individual Goals

What defines a "rookie"? Are we going with simply someone with ZERO GHL games before? Just curious and like that as a new end of year category, but pity the person trying to determine it. Eldred Elite, as always, has very lofty goals this year! Listed in order of importance: 1. Win a playoff series, preferably against those bastards Prairie Stars/Regals! 2. Assuming last year is no fluke and my goalie Glandon is truly entering his prime, have him lead the league in Shutouts. He came close last year with 8. 3. Have S1 first round draft pick (#24) William Obeng prove he belongs to be a starter this season. He's getting a go as 3rd Line center to see if he can improve that line's role after a horrible S4. 4. Go deep into the playoffs as several players could be eyeing retirement homes after this season. If this team can't replicate last year's success, look for the rebuild to start early!

    Season 5 Individual Goals

Looks like you and I are going to be competing in some of these, Paul. Looking forward to it. Also aiming quite high, but some of these have precedent. I invested heavily in Schuppan and Lux, who are both rookies, and Schuppan my starting G, so very interested to see what happens. Plus, with Putin and Stalin motivating my team to perform like only they can, there is no telling how far I can go. 1) Elouan Scott - (94 F): Ovechkin + Gretzky trophies (Goals, Points*), Most shots* *current holder 2) Simon-Delorme - (92 D): Most Points by a Defenceman, Highest +/- 3) Henry Lux - (86 F (rookie)): Most Rookie Points 4) D Sharshin, D Nazarov, F Patrushev, C Stalin, C Putin 100 combined points by Russian players 4a) At least 1 goal scored + assisted by ONLY Russian players 5) Sagiv Schuppan - (87 G (rookie)): 40 wins 6) Roger Muller - (92 C): FINALLY HIT GODDAMN 50 POINTS Team Objective: Score 300 goals, win 45 games

    Editing XML - Conference Size

I should have added, this issue was experienced when modifying the FBS/FCS mod files. I just retried with the Standard fileset and had no issue with any of my attempts to drop a conference below 12, increase a conference above 12, create a new conference, and create a new team. I think I'll work from that as a base, and work through the names and logos myself. I gotta say, this is the first time I've found a game that looks like it can accommodate my weird desires to bend/realign/reorganize CFB from the ground up. I am in love with how open ended this seems, given my dive into these files. Thank you for your work on the project!

hey fellow GM games fans, i just got activated here. first i was only registering here trying to "steal" the DDSPB21 GM Games Pro Photo Pack as Im planning to getting into that game. but hey why not share some stuff with other GM games enthusiasts. i was a bit ticked off not receiving the confirmation mail directly. but then i contacted the admin and he reacted hella first. but i could tell hes a really chill dude from watching his streams on YT before which got me in those draft day sports games in the first place. i was always looking for a decent basketball GM game. played a bunch of other GM or GM styled games before, like football manager (probably sunk the most hours into that game, besides some RTS games), total extreme wrestling (rerunning the monday night wars after the montreal screwjob), nba 2k GM mode, pro cycling manager (also running historic database telekom vs us postal and shit) and rite now those draft day sports games. im from germany. i support the following professional sport teams: 1. FC Cologne (the billy-goats my local association football club, still hope they wont descend, that missing crowd support really sucks for them), bora-hansgrohe (professional cycling team) and basically dallas ball sport teams. dirk brought me there and being exposed to the coverage there i slowly got into americas team the boys for the NFL aswell (dont bash me for that, haha). so my plan is trying to build a dynasty around luka magic (have u seen his 3 point buzzer beater floater vs the grizzlies? like dafuq) with the mavs in DDSPB21. so yeah thats my first post basically. so one more to go before i can download lol. but ima take it slow. not trying to spam or anything. thanks for letting me in greetings franz_kremer (named after founder of 1. FC Cologne, who phrased the famous quote: tradition only has a sense, if the willpower for even higher deeds is there; when he founded the club basically merging two clubs from cologne, he was asking do you want to become meister (champion) with me. and they basically did it. in that times they were known as the real madrid of the west also the first german professional soccer team with kit sponsors so he was ahead of his time. nevertheless i really dig that american sports teams dont really have kit sponsors or just little ones now in the nba)

Evaluating Walk-ons In the first couple of weeks of July a number of walk-ons will arrive. These are additional team members outside the recruitment process. Their general skill seems to be related to team's overall reputation, prestige and/or coaching levels (or possibly a combination of some or all). The players fall across all years, from freshmen to 5-year seniors. On an automatic pop up screen you have to chose to offer any of these new players scholarships or make them preferred walk-ons (there is a maximum number of scholarships that can be given at any one time (85). You can also choose to change these for an existing players. I haven't found these changes to make a huge amount of difference at this stage, although from a role-playing perspective I tend to give my highest rated players in a position a scholarship and strip scholarships from any player falling to a 1 star rating or two or more stars below my best in that position. (In the example below I gave all 4 star walks on a Full Scholarship). For ease of evaluation, I sorted this sheet by clicking on the position so I could see the depth (and highest rated players at each position more easily). Once you have made any required changes click on Done in the top-right corner. If walk-ons fill some of the gaps you were previously recruiting for, you may wish to withdraw offers from undecided recruits you have made offers to. For example in the unlikely event a 5* Freshman Fullback turned up early July, I might decide to withdraw any offers I had made for other Fullbacks through the recruitment process, so I could focus on other priorities, or invest in more Seniors.

    Tips for streaming?

I like watching someone do both depending on the sport, and the type of stream. I tend to sim most of my games, but try and play out games with consequences. In soccer, I play out all major cup games and one league game a month plus the ones for positions on the table. In baseball I play out the first of each series, in NCAA i play all of them out and in basketball I play one game per in-game week. Then I cut the stream into episodes and put it into my VODs. I notice though that people can get bored if you stop talking and stop checking chat, so keep up with chat and make sure even in downtime, that you're talking strategy, plans, or whatever... even if no-one else is in chat. I mean, this is the strategy that got me to Twitch affilliate after all, but each community and streamer is different, and that's fine! It's about finding what works for you. :)

HORNETS ANNOUNCE GM CHANGE The Charlotte Hornets have not won more then 36 games since they won 48 in the 2015-2016 season. And they have not reached the playoffs since that season, and have only finished with a winning percentage better then .450 one season since then. The Charlotte Hornets announced today they have parted ways with Mitch Kupchak, who to be fair has only been in that position since April 8th 2018. In his place they have agreed to terms with 40 year old Indiana native Sam Fisher. Fisher played college ball at Indiana State before playing 2 years over in Europe. “I’m excited for the opportunity” said Fisher at the press conference today, “I have lofty expectations for myself. I want and expect to win to bring Charlotte their first championship.” Fisher wasn’t brave enough to guarantee or promise how soon that will happen. When asked what his first order of business was, he said “getting ready for the draft coming up.” The pretty much unknown Fisher The Charlotte Hornets will have the 3rd pick in the upcoming draft. The WSSN mock draft has them taking 19 year old SG Anthony Edwards from Georgia. The mock draft ended up being right, as the Charlotte Hornets selected SG Anthony Edwards with the 3rd pick in the 1st round. Edwards will fill a hole the Hornets have at SG, as the Hornets only had 22 year old Malik Monk on the roster. With the 2nd round pick the Hornets selected PF Tyler Bey from Georgia and with the final pick the Hornets selected PF Yoeli Childs from BYU.

    Best Lefty of All Time?

Randy Johnson if the gameplay physics were from MLB The Show or something modern Most early baseball games I played throughout the 90s & 2000s when he was in his prime couldn't really convey his skill accurately, compared to a pitcher like Kershaw or Pedro Martinez who have a large variety of pitches instead of 2 completely unhittable ones. Depending on the game engine RJ could get lit up pretty easily (doubly so if they get his velocity wrong)

How I started.. Playing Sports Sims

For me it all start with MicroLeague Baseball on the C64. I didn't have anything but the base game but I have so many fond memories of players and teams from a time when life was kicking me in the arse. This game helped me forget about life for awhile. Now when I play baseball sims I gravitate right away to the teams I remembered playing as much as 35 years ago. Also it is not long ago that I played a version of MicroLeague Baseball as on the net there are browser based versions you can play. Finally in regards to the stat side of things I used to have this grey binder from my dad's workplace and it had all my written box scores and standings and whatever in it. Unfortunately I did not keep this stuff. Anyway that was my first taste of sim baseball and I am glad in recent years I have gotten back into sim sports through various companies. It is relaxing and a replacement for pro sports leagues in real life that have gone to hell and I no longer follow.

I will check out the first game(s) and then see how it goes. I don't have high hopes because of how fickle football fans are, these leagues never last long due to lack of interest after initial hype. Hope it sticks though.

I guess the first gm game I played was the gm mode within the EA NHL games. I favored the mode because I always found it more fun to be playing a team of my own creation rather than the teams that some real gm has assembled. Eventually, I wanted a game with more depth and decided upon the recently released football manager game. The toughest part was probably the fact that I hardly knew nothing about football/soccer and therefore had to learn the strategies and desired players. I enjoyed it enough that eventually, I bought a few other gm games such as EHM, OOTP and that Euro Truck simulator game (does that count?) However, more recently I've acquired more priorities business in my life and as a result was looking for a smore simple game. Eventually I found gameplanhockey through a reddit comment on /r/hockey and have been pretty satisfied since.
