In Topic: Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

This is good news! I never managed to find a first line center that I've been reserving the number #21 for.. but maybe after the reset I will. There's only one great #21 that I'm aware of, and that's Peter Forsberg of course.

Perhaps you've followed the NHL long enough to recognize the late, great HOF center, Stan Mikita, Chicago Blackhawks, who wore #21...  ;)

I notice some of you are fairly new at this, as am I.  I inherited a good roster (Louisbourg Miners), and got promoted.  I have a lot of players that are good for LIHL, but may not be so good at the next level.  For example, my leading scorer was a 70 OVR center castoff from IHL.  My leading goal scorer was an OVR 67. What I'm saying is, take a look at my roster, especially the affiliate.  I signed a lot of younger players that are developing at a good rate, and are primed to do some good things at LIHL level. I would like to see other managers get some positive experiences here.  Maybe we can do some things to our mutual benefit....

In Topic: Please help with tactics and players

I have been at this a year now, nearing the end of my 2nd season.  My lowest-rated center is my leading scorer.  My lowest-rated forward is in my top 5 in scoring.  My team finished in the middle of the pack 1st season, but are a solid 2nd this time.  Have a lot of higher-rated players for LIHL, but still...i just made sure each player was in his best role, then assigned lines accordingly.  I have 3 2-way lines and scoring line.  2-way lines are all 2-way role players, and my one scoring line is 2 snipers and a playmaker, and the 4 lines are playing 25% each... Can't say roles into lines is the final answer, but it's a starting point...  as Paul T said, aim for what you like-In free agency, I signed a ton of younger 2-way centers and forwards, too, and watching them advance almost daily...  2-way kinda fits my psyche, lol  offense AND defense, in more or less equal measure...

FWIW-I'm new to the game, playing my first full season, in LIHL, after playing most of last season and finishing in a cluster of 6 thru 9.  Relevant to this topic, early on, before i really had my hands on the wheel, one of my goalies got injured, I believe, and an 18-year-old with OVR 52 was brought up, and shut out the top team in the league.  At the time, my lines were askew as far as role and tactics as well.  So, as some are saying, "Go Figure!"  ;)

So with the upcoming upheaval in the game, long-term signings are moot?  Like trying to get  4-year college degree when you know the world will end in 1 year?  In Clapper LIHL, I have a player with shaky traits but good ratings performing wonderfully well; have brought him back from unhappy to frustrated, would like to sign him and further improve his attitude, but feel his salary demands are excessive and I'm afraid to get locked in for 2 years at that.  But-if things are all going away soon, is there any reason why I would not want to just sign him to get his best effort this season, with no future consequences?
