#38910 Top Jerseys

Posted by Deadwing on March 23, 2019 - 07:41 PM

Ohh.. didn't notice this thread here for a while.

Well thanks to Matt's pointers, I redesigned the jersey to a much darker color scheme, abandoning the orange completely. https://gameplanhock.../team?gpid=49-A

My preferred jerseys since I've gone through them all...

GHL: Deferiet Leopards (clean and distinctive jersey), Brass Castle Berzerkers and Missisauga Stealheads (both nice and easy to recognize)

SHL: Crabtree Defenders, Rocky Mountain House Owls (I don't mind bright if it's just stylish enough) :)

BHL: Summertown Sixpack (just because it's funny, yet kinda cool), Cape Girardeau Legends (Crisp and nice)

CHL: Finnegan Serpents (One of the few ones where highlight works better than shadow), Dustin White Devils (Cool in its simplicity)

IHL: Butte City Battlers (This league has more meh shirts than any other.. not sure if it's the high amount of computer managers maybe... didn't really check)

LIHL: Fillmore Hillcats, Camden Nighthawks, Torrington Thunderbolts, Ripon Scorpions (nicely distinctive color scheme and easily recognizable), Gravenhurst Hounds (the cool is here), Natashquan Assassins (just like this one for some reason), Goldville Knights (really nice and neat jersey), Harrow Lynx (simply because I think I know where the idea of this shirt comes from),

Some people like brighter, some darker and some in between.. I was looking at the jerseys and trying to think would I recognize one later. This is kind of moot as well since you tend to remember your worst/best rivalries in any case. A lot of very nice ones, but also a lot of jerseys that I think the manager just didn't care enough to put in the effort.

EDIT: I'm not big on New York Rangers, but as Matt pointed out on chat, the color scheme is not really widely represented, so I decided to run with it while it's still early. If the away jersey ever sees daylight, and I'm going to bug Anders about it until it does, I think using white base color with red highlights spiced with blue numbers and collar will fit quite nicely.

Edit 2: ET2018, your jersey looks good, but it doesn't really make me go ooooh wow! My hometown team used grey jerseys at one point and it's just really doesn't kick me as a main color. I'm just one opinion though. It's very clean and crisp, so if I learn to hate your team enough, I'm sure it's as great of a color choice as any. :D

Edit 3: Pullman T-Birds, I got you marked as an all time enemy. You took my old logo before I got here! :D Can't wait to meet you on ice. Fairplay tactic = ridiculously and overly violent! :P

#38908 A Question about Focus Assignements

Posted by Deadwing on March 23, 2019 - 06:18 PM

It's a lot of trial and error. There are no definitive help files, just general guides and they're under construction as a result of 2.0 launch. Every manager wants their team to play their own way and be successful, and it's absolutely possible, but may take a few seasons to build up to what you want it to be.

Think of your grand vision. How do you want your team to play? Then start building toward that. It can be very frustrating and downright depressing, but when things begin to click, it's better than mediocre sex.

Don't be shy to join the chat. A lot of good advice and pointers to gain there. Just have enough confidence to say hello and it goes from there. Highest population on chat is usually around the game simulations.

Welcome aboard and stick around, I promise you it'll be worth it if hockey team managing is your thing.

#38891 Stealth patches

Posted by Deadwing on March 22, 2019 - 05:07 PM

Lately, I've noticed multiple "stealth patches". An update happens with clear improvements to the interface, yet it's not mentioned anywhere. I'd like to see the changelog brought back to life with information given what has been done. This should be a far higher priority now than ever since everybody is paying to play.

#38521 Game Plan Hockey Manager 2.0 - Release date announced!

Posted by Deadwing on March 02, 2019 - 03:35 PM

I'm right there with you, working my way up from the LIHL.  It's always a fun challenge!

You and everybody else starting from LIHL.. I truly salute you. I started from BHL since I got lucky with an open spot back in the day. Took me a few seasons to fight up to SHL and solidify my spot there. I decided to start where I left off, so I picked an SHL team. I felt like that was the "right thing to do" for myself. I must admit I didn't even consider starting over that far and go LIHL. With all the supposed changes in players and whatnot, you'll be strong by the time you've fought your way up.

Oh my dear god, it's happening. The end of the world while waiting for new one to appear. I'm officially like totally freaking excited! :)

#37727 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on December 14, 2018 - 07:36 PM

As far as I know, the beta is going with its little glitches, which are being fixed along the way. The release date is still a mystery. Maybe Mr. Man can shed some light on that.

Overall the new version looks like a damn candy compared to the current one. Can't wait to have it out for everybody.

#37673 We got any happy Seattlers here?

Well, except Edmonton because Chiarelli has no idea what he's doing.  :)

Ain't that the damn truth!

#37666 We got any happy Seattlers here?

Posted by Deadwing on December 05, 2018 - 07:08 PM

A lot of expansion teams added recently. Winnipeg, Vegas and now Seattle, but at least the number is now nice and even at 32. My rooting changes yearly depending on which Finn I hope to get the ring, and right now it's Predators for Rinne. There's no other teams nearby Seattle, so that's good. Vancouver on Canadian side of the border, but other than that, Seattle is a welcome addition I think.

EDIT: Cross off Winnipeg. Wasn't an expansion team.. my memory.. old age and all that crap... forgot to take my meds.

#37665 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on December 05, 2018 - 07:02 PM

Take your time. Better to have a bug free product to prevent any long term problems occuring. Besides I'm doing remarkably well in the SHL being freshly promoted. Wouldn't mind to see if I could do a one season hop straight to GHL lol. Probably not, but you know... it'll gnaw my bones for a long time afterwards with all the what if's

#37510 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on November 17, 2018 - 03:32 PM

Welcome back! And yes, you will be able to choose from three different fonts for the name and numbers :)

And player contracts are being reworked as we speak.

Three different fonts for the jerseys? Are you for real? Okay... I'll just assign my retirement checks to come your way. I'm never freaking leaving this game... too much fluff content to twiddle around with. :D

And no, that wasn't a sarcastic remark. This is true joy. Go GPHM!!!

#37359 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on November 06, 2018 - 12:11 PM

I commented on the jerseys thread, but I say it here too. The jersey builder is amazing— just freaking amazing. You didn't take it up a level, but like 100 levels at once.

The game interface looks very clean, sleep and most of all modern. Very nice works guys.

#37358 New jerseys!

Here's a little sneak peak on how you can customise your team jersey in the upcoming release. (Still work in progress).

Enjoy!

Oh my dear god... that jersey builder is a wet dream. I can't wait to get using it!!!

#37160 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on October 16, 2018 - 01:25 PM

Perhaps you've followed the NHL long enough to recognize the late, great HOF center, Stan Mikita, Chicago Blackhawks, who wore #21...  ;)

I know the guy, but I didn't know he wore #21. I was 3 years old when Mikita retired. Did you know he died in August of this year? Another legend bites dust, although he was at a respectable age of 78 or something like that.

I can vaguely remember Borje Salming, but he's not really the generation I learned to know from Swedish hockey players. I got to see the heyday of Forsberg, Daniel Alfredsson, Mats Sundin,  Markus Naslund and Nicklas Lidstrom. I was always so jealous at Sweden for having such superior players compared to us (Finland). Now the situation is very different, which makes it more interesting when Finland and Sweden play against each other.

#37131 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Deadwing on October 13, 2018 - 03:21 PM

By the way, just to get back on topic, please keep the feature where you can change the player number to whatever you want. I know some GM's have said it's a useless feature, but I really like it. I like to give special numbers to my key players... #27 for leading defensemen like Niedermayer.. #8 to well performing snipers a la Ovechkin / Selanne... or #12 like Iginla.. It's just a brilliant feature and I love it.
