Lemieux signed $785/79, 3yrs (prospect E/L) OFF-SEASON SUMMARY This off-season was about re-signing key upcoming free agents and signing prospects for CMB. Recent draftee Connor McDavid was signed along with last year's 1st Rd pick Aaron Ekblad, both players who will be present on CMB's opening night roster. Australian player Nathan Walker became the first Aussie to sign an NHL contract in history and although he will start the season in Springfield there is a lot of talk that he could be a 3rd/4th line player for CMB in the coming seasons. German tough guy David Wolf was signed to a 2yr deal and will be CMB's 13th fwd on opening night. Highly touted youngster Keegan Kanzig was signed to an entry level deal and will play for SPR, he is a tough, stay-at-home defenceman who projects to CMB's 3rd D-pairing in the coming seasons. Previous draftees Moutrey, Etchegary and Lemieux were all signed to Entry-Level deals and will start the season in SPR. Young player Max Friberg was signed as a depth player from free agency and will also play in SPR. A big concern for CMB fans is the contracts of some of the recent re-signee's as many of CMB's young guns have been given big, big raises. However GM Madball stated, "Our budget still accomodates re-signing players like Lucic, MacKinnon and Jones to $5M+ contracts, all of which are earned contracts. We will cross budget or salary cap issues when they arise but for now I'm trying to build a young, hard-working team that can win now and in the future." Opening Night Roster/Predicted Lines: Lucic-McDavid-Tarasenko Jenner-Rakell-MacKinnon Clifford-Toews-Simmonds Gazdic-Laughton-Sutter McDonagh-Hamilton Johnson-Jones Muzzin-Ekblad Rask-Jones Scratch: Wolf, Miller
  2. CMB manage to trade up with ARZ and get the #1 pick. Connor MacDavid is selected and immediately offered a contract. The Next One will be a Blue Jacket.
  3. 2014/15 END OF REGULAR SEASON UPDATE TEAM: 82-49-29-4-102(4th)-261(8th)-235(E-7th) PP: 20.6% (17th) PK: 82.0% (3rd) LEAGUE LEADERS Lucic 253hits, 1st Clifford 14 FW, 2nd Gazdic 13 FW, 3rd Jenner 142PIM, 1st Rask 39win, E-1st Rask 2.71GAA, 5th TEAM LEADERS (* Indicates season total, not just CMB): Rakell 84-30-44-74* (G,A,Pts) (24-8-11-19 w/CMB) Jones +17 Jenner 142PIM Clifford 14/15FM * Scott Laughton won MVP & Pts Award in AHL PLAYOFFS: vs. TB L 3-4 STANLEY CUP: DET d. SJS 4-2 2014/15 RECONTRACTS Tarasenko $6.1M/5yr Hamilton $4.9M/6yr Clifford $1.6M/4yr Svedberg $800k/1yr Toews $7.4M/6yr Muzzin $5.1M/3yr SUMMARY: After holding a spot in the top two of the conference for most of the season, CMB saw a bit of a fall in March and ended up heading to the playoffs in 4th position. They fought back from a 3-1 deficit in their series vs TB, but eventually went down 4-3. Tarasenko lead CMB with 7-4-5-9 playoff scoring, Rask had 3.04GAA, 0.909% This marked the second year in a row the team fell short in the divisional semifinals. GM madball stated that although he was proud of the fightback, the team should've been able to put TB away in a short series. With players like Toews, Jones, Johnson, Lucic, Rask et al this team shouldn't be losing a first round series. This has sparked some conversation that HC Ted Nolan may be losing his job, a fact backed up by three changes in Asst Coach ranks already. This season's additions did play strongly however with Rakell scoring 24-9-10-19, Muzzin 24-3-16-19, Toews 26-7-5-12. Expected Free Agents: M.Jones, J. Muzzin, S. Vatanen, B. Olson, N. Foligno, D. Smith, M. Chaput, D. MacKenzie, C. Atkinson, T. Randell, C. Stewart It'll be an interesting couple of weeks as Jones has rejected a 2yr/$1.55M offer, Muzzin wants a raise from $1M to $5.5M+, Vatanen has rejected a 5yr/$1.4M offer, and these are young players that are part of CMB plans for the future. Foligno and Stewart are expected to walk unless they're willing to take pay cuts. THe remaining players are depth/AHL players and likely won't fall into CMB plans one way or the other.
  4. 2014/15 TRADE DEADLINE UPDATE TEAM: 61-37-20-4-78-198(6th)-179(13th) 2nd East Lucic 194hits, 1st Gazdic 12 FW, 1st Rask 31Win, 3rd Madball treats being a GM like he's playing a video game. CMB have made several big moves which some insiders are calling misjudged, especially for a team sitting 2nd in the East. It started early Feb when Patrice Bergeron (14/15:45GP-13G-18A-31Pts-0PIM CMB history: 99-25-39-64-6) was traded with a 2nd Rnd pick to CHI for Jonathan Toews, who was immediately signed to a 6yr/$7.4M contract. Madball stated, "Whilst they're pretty much the same player I feel that Toews is slightly better and can bring the same game and qualities to our team that Pat did." One week later young defender Ryan Murray was sent to LAK for Jake Muzzin. Muzzin is a littler older, a little better defensively but is also a pending free agent. On Feb 21 another big and controversial move was made where Anisimov, along with prospect D. Hetherington were sent to ANA for 21yo Richard Rakell.

The team made the playoffs for only the 2nd time in history and came back from a 3-0 deficit to stretch the series against MTL to 7 games. The season will be best remembered for the high player turnover as new GM Madball worked tiressly to shape the team into a team he would be happy to ice each game. NHL Rookie Nathan MacKinnon was one of these trades and looks to have a huge career after a 68pt campaign split between COL and CMB. GM has stated that he intends on working the phones just as much once trades are open again to solidify his lineup stating that he wants better defence out of his team next season. Although re-signed it's expected that Marian Gaborik will be used as trade bait to do this in the near future with Marian unhappy with his ice time during the season. 6. Here's a dynasty I'm currently playing in trying to see what damage I can do to the BJ's. I've gone through season 1 and I'll post a little summary here. (some of you may recognise this from another forum, so I've skipped the multiple posts and gone straight to the End/Season one) I'll post semi-regularly updates on Season 2 and beyond.
