I am a solo league player, and I also create quickstarts for the OOTP community.
  1. OK, I am all-clear, and am caught up to the same point on both forums. I now welcome your comments, and thank you very much for following my dynasty report!
  2. MLB Inaugural Draft - First Round Completed (Authors Note:Please remember, all these players were organically grown through the feeder system or international system. There is more hitting talent in the league than there is pitching, so I expect to see a run on pitching in the early rounds. Our 1st overall is a 3* currently, with a 5* potential, but there is not a ton of five star pitchers like you would normally see. Looks a ton more challenging right off rip!)
  3. With the fourth pick of the Major League Baseball Inaugural Draft, the Detroit Tigers select: Chris Boyce, P -- Detroit Tigers
  4. With the first pick of the Major League Baseball Inaugural Draft, the San Francisco Giants select: Stan Merritt, OF -- San Francisco Giants Special thanks to Fhomess for the amazing T206 cards, and once again to TxRanger and Knuckler for the amazing retro logos, uniforms, and caps!
  5. To set the draft order, I hit the "random order" button one time, and our Detroit Tigers will be selecting fourth in the inaugural draft. The San Francisco Giants will have the first pick, and I'll be announcing their pick and posting a baseball card (The T206 set for this era) for the first overall pick, and the first pick for the Tigers. Stay tuned for about 10 minutes! Edit: The draft is 50 rounds, so we will essentially have a "B" squad on the reserve roster. Again, affiliated minors will not be added until the 1930's, but I want teams to have options as well as injury replacements.
  6. It is a little late for me to start drafting tonight, so I will be drafting tomorrow early afternoon, and then I'll be posting the active Opening Day Rosters, along with baseball cards for each team's top pitcher and hitter to start this dynasty off great, and get us acquainted with some of the players! The important thing is all of my tests for the 30 years went beautifully along with all of the players now being feeder/international. We are in great shape for the start of the league tomorrow, and I hope you'll be following along!
  7. The next step will be me sharing all 16 team rosters at the end of the inaugural draft. I am about 10 years out from 1901, so I'll be drafting tonight and teams will be appearing starting tonight or tomorrow! Thanks for following and subscribing, and I look forward to spending a lot of time with all of you here!
  8. Silver Slugger Award Winners This list will be updated after the 1901 season.
  9. League Ace Award Winners This list will be updated after the 1901 season.
  10. Most Valuable Player Award Winners This list will be updated after the 1901 season.
  11. MLB All-Time Pitching Leaders These lists will be edited at the end of every season!
  12. MLB All-Time Batting Leaders These lists will be edited at the end of every season!
  13. National Baseball Hall of Fame The Hall of Fame will begin inductions in 1936. Be on the lookout for your ballot!
  14. Welcome everyone, to my final OOTP Dynasty Report! Yes, final. I am suspending all of my prior dynasties permanently and committing to this dynasty and this dynasty alone over the next few versions. I may play leagues in my off-time, but I am only going to write about this league from here on out. I realize I simply must commit to one dynasty for the long-term to write about, to achieve the level of immersion I hope to have one day. Also, I will be dual-posting this over at GM Games, so I really felt the need to have just one report from here on out. I hope you will follow along with me on the league that I intend to play for the rest of my lifetime. Under The Hood This league will be starting play in 1901, and is structured as a fictional MLB setup. I will be using MLB retro logos, uniforms and caps put together by the incomparable TxRanger and Knuckler. I am also using the Modern Names file from QuestDog. Even though the league is starting in 1901, I am still using the modern names as I am intending on running this league for centuries. Instead of altering uniforms every few years, I have used legacy franchises and retro logos for those franchises instead of having to make extra alterations. The only real change I have made from the initial legacy teams is to have the Los Angeles Angels franchise replace the Minnesota Twins franchise. I wanted to have 2 California teams for each league to keep things even on that front. Even though we will see an initial start date as 1901, I have actually started the league in 1871 and am currently simming up to 1901 to remove the initial run of fictional players from the player pool. I am using a small college and high school feeder, so this will also make our entire talent pool organically grown from feeder leagues, or generated via the international system. The only small suspension in belief I will need from YOU, the reader, is to allow that air travel would be available already for teams to travel back and forth from the West Coast. To compromise this from a competitive standpoint, I will be kicking up the fatigue for position players one level to simulate poor travel conditions. Minor leagues will begin to be added around 1935 or so, around the time the farm system really started taking place in the real world. I'll be starting with 1901 financials with no cash maximum, and altering them as time goes on by watching what the financials do in a shadow league alongside that does an auto-import. I want the AI teams (and myself) to have the extra resources that the cash provides. The league will allow free agency and a free market for all players starting after the inaugural draft in 1901, and the league will never experience the horrors of segregation. The only dynamic league evolution that will be on will be the two options for "More/Less Offense" and "More/Less Pitching" to simulate fluctuations in the league. Other than that I will be using 2013 statistics/strategies in the old era, and modern ballparks for each franchise. I will not be playing with the CBA changes for 2012, at least not until 2012. The designated hitter will not be added until at least 1973, and that is up for debate even then. The only time I will ever be enabling commissioner mode is to tweak financials in the offseason for the following season, or for future expansions. I can also enable it in order to get a major league job initially. Other than that, I am treated the same as any other computer manager. To this end, I am trying to establish the best GM career I can, and I will also break up my career into generations of 30 years in order to compete with myself. My characters will start at 35 years of age with a mandatory retirement after their age-65 season, unless the last season was a championship, in which case I am allowed to continue playing seasons until I do not win a title to finish my career, and then I must retire. If I am fired and the minor leagues are available, I must attempt to manage back into the majors through the minor leagues or retire that character. The Hall of Fame will open in 1936, and all forum members will have a ballot. Drug suspensions will be present for the entire dynasty and will be handled like MLB handles them. 80 game first offense, a full season on the second, and a lifetime ban for the third strike. Any positive test permanently disqualifies a player from the Hall of Fame, and from postseason play and any award presented during the season of the positive test. I may enable commissioner mode to edit anything necessary in this regard. I "play out" all games and control baserunning and substitution decisions only... so except for stretching hits and personnel decisions, my field manager is in charge of all the strategy so they will be very important. Welcome to My MLB Forever!
