#35116 Line-Up position

Agreed. The answer was probably not thought all the way through. I admit that. And you’re right, I know all the details about this game so of course I have an advantage over most managers. But I’m far from winning every game, I’m either a poor manager or it really proves how complex this game is. I’m hoping for the latter, which is also a good thing :-) But this is actually something I’ve thought of lately. Is it fair for me to compete in my own game?

I think it is fair that you compete in your own game. I only play in Clapper, and your team has always been in GHL. Have you ever tried in other worlds to take a team in the LIHL and get it promoted, all the way to GHL? Because to me, that is the best aspect of this game, so much that if i get to the GHL, and will strongly consider going back in the LIHL and start over.

What a (first) season in the SHL! I started 1-0-0-9 and at one point i was about 12-0-1-23, and then, i flushed 2 veteran and it took off. With 4 games left, i'm at .500! The gap between BHL and SHL was huge, and the SHL was very competitive this year (i'm not sure the 1st team will have more than 120pts), but i did it, i didn't get relegated.

#32641 Hoarding Players

Posted by flowbish1 on February 10, 2018 - 08:53 PM

I think 30 is too small, but 50 is by far too high. With a full roster in the lineup that's allowing for 32 affiliate players. I think in terms of needs having four centers, eight wingers and three goalies is enough room to have players that are on the cusp of making the team and maintaining a strong prospect pipeline with the affiliate. I think 35 would be a good amount and drafted players that aren't signed wouldn't count towards that total.

Asset management should be a skill that is encouraged within the game. Currently you're just allowed to hold as many players as you can fit under the cap so hoarding players isn't hard to achieve with the cap savings you gain from putting a player on the affiliate. If you have to make a decision about who you value and who you are just keeping for the sake of having then roster transactions will be more prevalent and GM interaction as well. Instead managers are feeling slighted from coming to the table late without being afforded the opportunity to obtain those players.

Full disclaimer, I don't have any issues with other teams that have loaded affiliates. Personally I players in three categories on my team which is: players that influence my GHL success, players that have the potential to influence my success and assets that I can move to benefit my team. Players that don't contribute to any of those categories are either released or not acquired in the first place. I like the idea of a roster limit for the purpose of adding another layer of realism to this game and boosting manager interaction as a byproduct of having a roster limit.

Exactly how i feel, except the limit should be 40. Just my 2 cents!

Since the last update, i haven't seen any changes in my injury total. Some minor injuries are caused in the affiliates, but nothing has changed for my team

Please Anders, just put a maximum number of players/contract for each team. Something between 40-50 would really help with this hoarding, and would make it more realistic.
As for those who would have more than the limit when being set, they could still continue with all the players they still have, yet wouldn't be able to sign any player until they dropped under the limit.

RIVERSDALE'S FLOWING NEWS
V.Masharin lasches at management.

After yesterday's shocking trade of long time hopeful and first overall draftee of current ownership FWD Valerei Masharin, he had a lot to get off his chest.
"They always prefer french-canadian or north american in this team, never russian. Me never got the chance to play my style, it was always go-go hit the players, dump the puck."
Team representant and PR director, Pierre-Luc Desgranges told the media that "We always want players with character that can skate. We thought at the time that he would evolve into that kind of player, but obviously we had other elements in our locker room that were better suited for the job to do, and wish him good luck"
Valerei Masharin was traded to the IHL Southside Spartans, along the IHL 1st round pick obtained from the New Haven Colonel, which will certainly become an IIHL 1st round, given that team's IHL ranking.
The Riversdale T-Birds received in that trade the Spartans's IHL 1st round pick. With the earlier trade from the Skyline in the pre-season, they now own 2 first round pick from the 4 teams that now sit in contention for playoffs in the IHL,and that with 13 games to play. Should one or both these teams make it to the BHL, the T-Birds would be very happy for this year draft.Along with their own IHL 1st round pick becoming a BHL one, they could have up to 3 players chosen in that BHL 1st round. That would certainly help them down the road, should they choose wisely.

RIVERSDALE'S FLOWING NEWS
Goldminer's ex-fans angry!

The imminent promotion of the recently re-located Riversdale T-Birds, the city's IHL team, hasn't just made the team's new fan base happy, it has also left fans and the community in Boykin devastated.
The Boykin town hall had just approved new plans for the city arena, including updates to the press room and some new seating area and lounge, but the team owners and the BHL didn't think it would be enough for a team of that caliber.
"We're so @#$%¥₩%$##" declared the official fan club, people who, for the last five years or so,had grown attached to some of the players, including Labrie, Shane 'E'Leven, Mocka and even (then and still) young hopeful now in the AHL3, V.Masharin. They will also never forget defensive player M.Lesperance. "His name means hope in french, and that's what he gave us, as fans" declared long time fan JC Misere.
"They all left in a hurry, for this new building, and league, even the farm teams. We're only left with a junior team (Boykin Batmen), and this old and soon to be improved city arena" declared city official Bill Waltzmen in reaction to the events.
The Riversdale T-Birds are 1st in the IHL, 36-2-1-5 with 16 games left to play, holding a 29 points advance over 3rd place.
