#36415 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Posted by Haradrim on August 08, 2018 - 12:01 PM

I respect each of the changes, but I fear the subscription idea will be the end of the road for a lot of the current users. A realistic expectation is that the managers that currently have All-Star accounts will probably pay the subscription and I suppose this will be the starting point. From then on, problems may arise.

First of all, the idea of a subscription means that many users will not afford it. What buys an icecream in the US or Sweden will feel far more costly in Eastern Europe, for example. Then there is a difference between choosing to contribute (through a donation or an All-Star account) and having to contribute. Psychologically it is easier to attract paying customers through the first option.

The biggest problem is that without a lot of marketing, the game will fail to attract a lot of paying users, so most worlds will be scarcely populated and the game will not be attractive even to those who will choose to pay for a few months. It will not have a community (like it was promising to do) but customers. I may be a sceptic, but I fail to see how new (paying) users will arive in large numbers.

#36110 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

I don't think you really understand the question and the principle. It is not a matter of being cheap and, as for me, I would be ok wherever Anders chooses to take the game. It is however worrying to legitimize being part of the decision through money. True, this is the world we live in, but it doesn't mean being so ready to appalud it as you seem to be.

For the financial side, the game could be helped through donations and that way it could survive as an equal community as it does happen in some communities on the net. Keep in mind that the amount one pays for the game is - in terms of affordability - different from a country to another, so it is unfair not to take that into consideration.

It has always been my impression that the main satisfaction Anders gets out of creating this game is that it could be enjoyed by anyone responsibly on an equal basis. What you support is unfortunately a two-tiered system in which decisions that affect the whole community are reserved for a privileged few.

So, again: I want everyone to have a vote, not (just) me and not just you.

yes... and why shouldn't they be? Supporting the game enables it to move forward and if you aren't willing to pay a very small price to aid in the development then why do you feel you should have just as much say as those who do? The people who are willing to spend a few bucks a month are the ones that are helping these updates come to fruition which all of you who don't support the game, still reap the benefits of the updates regardless. Plus given every topic as far as updates are voted on by the group of supporters, it is still fair to all in the long run and I still say that even though certain votes I've made myself were not the majority and lost and yet it is no problem for me based on one simple thing: Anders and staff have done an amazing job thus far even though there's still lots of room for improvement. So let me leave you with a little reminder; they didn't need to include anyone in their decisions and yet they did and given that the all star accounts offer no perks in game other than names and numbers which don't affect gameplay, is it really that crazy that the people who are willing to pay a few bucks to make the game better for everyone are the ones used to aid them in making the best decisions for everyone??

You wanna have a vote...?

Stop being so cheap.

So that means that important decisions like this are taken by those having All Star accounts and not by the whole community?

Most votes are in favour of a complete reset in order to finally fix the issue of nearly all teams being built out of all stars considering their league. With player development finally (hopefully) fixed and this big update coming out, the consensus is that the update would be a good time to do it.

#36057 Release: Fall 2018 (Just to keep you posted!)

Excellent work! Thanks for all the effort!

Just one question: will current leagues be reset to zero or will they be keeping their current players, stats, positions etc?

Here’s the latest update.
We’re now well under way of developing features that are being included in the big release this fall. After discussions with the focus group we have decided to extend the leagues to a total of 28 teams divided into two conferences. Playoff series will be played best of five games. We’re also adding a sixth league to each game world.

More about this and other features including a full release plan will be available very soon.

#32074 Fishbowl Power Rankings Season 11

Posted by Haradrim on January 08, 2018 - 04:31 PM

Congratulations on the Cup!

It was well-deserved, although I had hopes I could sneak a win in Game 3. However I think I lost it in Game 1.

Good luck next season, let's hope it will spectacular for all of us!

This is a great game.

Hey IneffableLeafs...that was remarkable how accurate you were with your predictions! We were very fortunate that your Finals prediction was just slightly off as it did come down to a game 3 that the Hooligans fell behind 2-0 early in the first period. Keep up the good work all! Great season, Hawkeye! Good luck with the draft, all!

Hi everyone,

Been playing for over 2 years in Biscuit now and I've created a new team in Fishbowl, Miami Walkers.

Best of luck to all.

Welcome, Kim!

you will certainly be a powerful opponent.

#27759 Season 19 General Chat

Posted by Haradrim on June 07, 2017 - 08:53 AM

I started off in Lumber and played for a couple seasons- I guess gained enough experience to be able to get a GHL team directly in another game world.

For sure! I'm still trying to get a feel on my team but I'll shoot you a message if anything comes up.

Welcome to Clapper!

I also think you inherit a good team with a lot of excellent prospects, but also with chances to fight right now for the Cup!

#26798 Trade abuse.

Posted by Haradrim on April 11, 2017 - 10:00 AM

All this discussion is interesting and has produced a few good suggestions for the (uncertain now) future of this game.

But the fact remains that the cheater whose abominable trades started this discussion is STILL in the game and he is STILL a GHL advisor. In fact on Day 1 of the new season in Clapper he has continued his work of abuse: at this point he is unloading wages and older players that have started their quick decline on computer teams in order to be able to sign better players from free agency. This is beyond disgusting now.

Please help in reporting this individual, because if he is not punished and he remains in the game, this game has a bleak future.

As for Anders, if he still wants this game to become popular and attractive, the banning of Tuthankhamen is now a must.

#26624 Trade abuse.

Posted by Haradrim on April 04, 2017 - 11:05 AM

Thats a choice, everyone IS on the same level, just people choose not to do it which means your handicapping yourself.

This is ridiculous. It actually means: everybody could steal and cheat, so if somebody chooses not to do it he or she shouldn't complain (and is just plain stupid). This is the mentality of an 8-year old so you have an excuse if you are that age.

If not, it is appalling that you are a GPH advisor, given that Anders has specifically asked people to avoid abusing the system.

#26288 Shortage on Centrum Silver

Posted by Haradrim on March 14, 2017 - 10:58 AM

My guy just set an all time new record for the biggest cliff dive in a professional hockey career and is now dropping a point daily! Yup, he dropped another point today...by the end of this season he may be dead!

The game will start being invaded by zombies. My guy has now lost 7 points in 11 days.

I am now in "being amused" mode. Nothing else to do but wonder how fast he will become a zombie on a high-wage contract.

Is that "old help system" still available somewhere? It would really help to have a proper (aka detailed, official and one) help document

Same thing happening to me.

#21826 Question about conflict of intrest

Posted by Haradrim on June 09, 2016 - 11:30 AM

The game needs stricter rules and the ability to enforce them.

Unfortunately, as other games on the net have repeatedly proven, there will always be cheaters and if not punished they will destroy the game.

What this guy has done in Clapper should be unacceptable. The fact that he is still in the game is mind-blowing for me.

#21486 Youth draft

Posted by Haradrim on May 26, 2016 - 02:17 AM

All looks well, but I do have one worry.

The draft order gives an important advantage to teams in the higher leagues.  This means that all the good players will go there. In time this will make it almost impossible for teams in the lower leagues to catch up, users will get frustrated or bored and leave the game.

I was expecting different drafts for each league, with an equal chance for each league to draft the best players. This way the game would remain interesting because no teams will have a strong advantage in the way the game mechanism works.

I know things are different in real life, but this is a game and users won't engage for long if they don't have a (real) chance to go up the leagues. And the veterans in the GHL at some time may get bored because of a lack of challenges.

#21484 v1.1.0 - Youth draft

Good job. Thanks for your effort!

The changes certainly make the game even more interesting.
