Let's get this thread going.

For starters, I edited a brief video about one particular FA signing.

Guess there are other factors than just money...

Oh boy :D

Yep the FA is grazy, i didnt even bother to make any offers cause i knew that if you want someone you need to be prepared to offers so huge salary that its not even close to worth it at that point.

Easy way to fuck your self up :)

But must admit, that 10 mil would been much juicier than 6.5 :D How is that even possible o.O ?

Team rep and manager rep has it's advantages in contract negotiations. Anyway both offers are insane.

I actually think 6,5 is a very reasonable contract for a player of that caliber (10M is pushing it of course). For what it's worth, I think all top players should make 6+ million as a rule of thumb. Of course we're very far from that atm.

That video was brilliant. But that is how I got Hoffman last season by going large on a short term and then I just resigned him for long term at like half, but lucky for me it wasn't nearly as competitive!?!?

Hahahahaha.  What a brilliant way to start off the S15 chat!

The epic music showing the 10M offer followed by the little bump sound showing the offer was rejected is pure gold.

But damn - I knew team and manager rep played a role, but should it really play THAT big a role?

You're right but the cap needs to go up then. Especially if you want to compare GHL with NHL.

No. It shouldn't. That said there is more than manager rep at play. Thus we don't know if manager rep was the real major factor.

Edit: Oh by the way Erzac awesome video.

I think manager rep is a bad thing. Sure, a player should want to be a star on a team or play on a champion contender or both or just happy to get a job, my favorite type of FAs, haha. It just creates a lead that is very difficult to close with newer or behind managers. Better players will generally always prefer to sign with them which makes the manager better which then attracts better players, etc.

There's probably always at least a small chance for any team to get a player signed, no matter the rep or amount offered. So when there are 10+ teams offering a contract, it's likely a rather small % to end up in any particular team.

Failure to lure the most sought-after FA Tadros to St.Thomas was followed by the busiest offseason to date, bringing significant amounts of talent and veteran presence to the Cats.

Looks like Stray Cats are going 'All-In'!  Your guys looked tough last night against me, but might not be saying much!

6.5M for a top defender is ok price. 10M is a bit too much, but the problem is that the teams can afford it. I have 7.5M under the cap for this season and that's a lot (as I'm second in power ranking and I have top goalie and top d-core)... there were times I was counting every penny under the cap (really, I was going offers by 5k, sometimes even less). Vandals are slightly tight in the cap, but they are stacked (best OVR) with many players in their prime age (when they are asking for highest salaries). I've been there :)

But I was on vacation, so I didn't participated in the bidding. Maybe next season...

I only picked up 1 FA, but I bid up a couple others since everyone has too much cap space. Maybe I have watched Storage Wars too much! "Yep!"

11 games in and the SHL is neck and neck. The point separation and even goal differential similarities are striking. It will be interesting to see what this looks like at round 30.

It is really scary Exxeo!  One win I could we could be in the playoffs one loss and we could be bordering relegation right now.

I can't say enough how awesome this season is shaping up!

Trouble in Deferiet!

The Leopards recent string of losses has created turmoil in the locker room as coach Paul T has started to question the compete level of his players.  After making the SHL playoffs the last two seasons and getting off to a hot start this season, the Leopards are slowly skidding down the standings and seem destined to miss the playoffs for the 1st time since relocating to Deferiet.

After their loss to the #1 Indians yesterday, a scuffle ensued between coach Paul T and the team's longest tenured and most respected player, Juan David Waller.  Despite giving up almost 6" and 30 lbs, Paul T got his point across.

The result:

More typical back-to-back matches for us this season: yesterday we beat the #1 team on the road, today we lose to the #14 team at home...
