I've just realized that a player's height and weight can fluctuate year over year.  While this is realistic, I was somewhat surprised to find this as I always thought it was a fixed number and did not change.  If you already knew this... then carry on!  If not, well now you know!

WHAAAAAAAAAT?!  That's some serious attention to detail to notice that.  Does height change noticeably?  I feel like a fluctuating weight is normal, but not, like...growing or shrinking 6 inches as an adult.  I'd certainly like to see a couple of my players hit another growth spurt...

this is something I've wondered about.  I get rid a a center who was a runt.  given his size he should have grown at least an inch and put on 10 to 15 pounds between 20 and 22 but nothing.  I think that growth should be a component.   I'm not nearly tech savvy enough to pull that off.

Right??!!  OK, glad I'm not the only one who is totally shocked about this.  The only reason I noticed this is because I was updating my "Team Italy" roster for a national team post in Biscuit and I have a template that lists all the players ratings, traits, height/weight, etc.  So as I was updating it, I noticed all the players changed.

So far I've only seen height change on 1 player and he actually got shorter by an inch!  From 6'1 to 6'0.  For what it's worth, it was an Italian guy so I guess it makes sense :D (I'm 100% Italian so I can say that)!  Almost every player's weight has changed, but not significantly.  Mostly 3-5 lbs.  I'll post a screen shot of the difference when I'm finished with it.

Gained or lost 3-5 lbs?  I gain 3-5 lbs whenever I eat Italian food. :)  Spaghetti & meatballs!  Chicken parm!  Mmmm!

I recall reading something Anders posted about this a long time ago. I think height can increase for young players and I forget if weight also only changes for young players as well or if it happens to any player.

Alright, the below images will show the comparison and changes for each player year over year. (US metrics).  Again, this is from the Italian national team update in Biscuit.  The very first player got 1 inch shorter.  Almost every other player changed in weight.

I already noticed it. I think those are not some drastical changes, but it's noticeable year by year. I didn't went to the depth, just saw some changes of some players of my. If You don't have screens of your squad, You'll hardly see any difference. Like guy who lacks size will lacks size for ever, I think. I didn't saw anyone grow up by half a meter (I use european-metric system :) ) or something... In my oppinion more markable change is happenig in the weight characteristics.

If You get real interest to your or just every prospects, there must the changes be more visible.

I've seen the weight of my players change every year, not all of them, but i'd say most. Most players tend to put on weight until about 30 years, and then slowly lose some. Nothing  drastic, a lightweight won't become a heavyweight and vice-versa, but it does change. I've never seen the height change, but i'm sure some players do. Nothing drastic, again. Those kind of details make that game cool.

It would be interesting to see if there is an ideal playing weight for a player. So if say a player fluctuated from 180-195 lbs over his career, you could correlate that to their most successful seasons and see if there is any trend. Could be completely blind luck or chance with no correlation. But if a pattern persisted among enough players you could use that info to try and predict if a player is set for a down season or spike in production. That would be useful for building lines or also possibly a way to buy low on an underperforming player in a trade.
