The Pennsylvania Professional Baseball Association (PPBA)

Recommended Posts

I would like to begin by expressing a great "THANK YOU" to Markus, Andreas & company at Out of the Park Developments for continuing to produce a game that has captivated me for over a decade now! I would like to also extend those sentiments to Questdog, Hankyu Braves, Koprnkc, Orcin and the many other authors of dynasty threads I have read over the years. Finally, to the many mod makers including knuckler, silvam14, cephasjames, gern44, and bobble (just to name a few) I extend the same thanks for all that you have done for me and the rest of the OOTP community!

The PPBA is "somewhat" based on actual historic baseball events. There may be some overlap between real baseball team names and those of the PPBA, but this is only a result of the alternative baseball "reality" to be presented. Also, any resemblance of the fictional players to real, living, or otherwise individuals is purely coincidental. The only real name intentionally used is that of Vic Chestnut, the PPBA founder, commissioner, and my late great uncle.

As a prerequisite to the information presented below, please note that the city of "Redbank" does not actually exist. It is a fictional place named for a real area in western Pennsylvania. The name comes from the Redbank Creek that forms the boarder between Armstrong (to the south) and Clarion (to the north) counties. The counties and creek are real. There is also a very small town at the exact location on the team map (from a previous post), my home town, but I chose to name it after the larger area. The population data for "Redbank" is 50% of the actual total populations of the two counties.

I was rummaging through my uncle Vic's old baseball stuff the other day and stumbled upon a copy of Baseball Magazine from April 1933. Here is a scan of the cover. Take a guess at the player's name.
