Player trade value

The player trade value will hint managers of the players value in a trade. The value displayed on the player page is not an exact value, this will be hidden. The trade value will look at both player ratings, traits, age, size, role fittings, contract situation and much more. It's designed to help managers composing trade offers and prevent unfair trades.

Trade availabiltiy

As default players trade availability will be Unknown. But managers will be able to set this to Untouchable or Trade block. Untouchable players will not be possible to include in trade offers by others while players put on the trade block is a clear signal that a manager is looking to move the players. Those players will also be listed at the transfer page along side with free agents (though filter).

Comments, questions?

Screenshot (Note that the contract tab is going to change its name to Transfer)

Really like the idea of a trade block! how about a trade block section in Transfers where you can set your teams needs?, maybe your looking for an offensive defenceman? this would help other teams in putting together a trade that your looking to make

Will traded players keep their current salary even if they have come from a higher league?

Excellent Anders!

Only one comment from my side so far. You are mentioning the name change 'release on relegation' to 'one-way-contract'. I think to avoid misunderstanding you should consider adding a new clausule, e.g. no-trade clausule (perhaps splitted in either full or partial?).

Themattinthehat:
Yes, there is going to be a section on the transfer page for the trade block. Managers will also be able to set their transfer needs so other may make appropriate trade requests.

Players traded up or down league levels will receive a new salary depending on what clauses they have in their current contract. It will work exactly as if the player's team had been relegated. And players with a "release on relegation" won't be allowed in trades moving the downwards. That means that all other players will get their salary recalculated against the new league cap.

Royalty:
The one-way clause would still allow the player to be traded within the same league level or even upwards. It will just prevent the player from downgraded a league level as the old clause would if his team should have been relegated. But a no-trade clause should actually be a great addition.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

This looks awesome, Anders. Thanks so much for all your work.

One question about: If you put a player in the trade block, will affect to their confidence and their gameplay?

That's a great question Daen00. I've not got that far yet but it's reasonable to think that the players confidence will drop and therefore might affect his game play.

Very nice and already in great progress, Anders!

I like the idea, but here some thoughts:

- can multiple players be traded? If yes, there still might be cheating since 3 mediocre players signed yesterday from FA can be traded for one great player. Still, I think 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trades should be possible and you can have one more thing against cheaters - the signed FA cannot by traded until the following season.

- trades player for player are fine, but the game needs more. For example I'm close to delegation and I have player the is star in my league with release on relegation contract. I want to trade him and getting similar player is useless since he will not be satisfied in lower league. Solution? We need draft and trade-able draft picks!

- please no drop on confidence for players on the trade block - nobody will put decent player on the block then. That does not have to be even true, some player might want to show up and play better with chance to get in a better team.

Bouncer:
Yes multiple players might be traded at once. I'm not sure on how to solve the free agent market just yet, but sure you have a good point. But it's not easy to trade three mediocre players for one great player. Hopefully the trade value will be smart enough to prevent bad trades and there is always the issue with salary cap space on the team to fit three new players.

Draft is coming and yes draft picks will be tradable

Not all players will drop in confidence when put on the trade block, only loyal players that don't handle pressure that well will get a slight decrease

That's usually the hardest part of a trade AI is factoring a lot of these things in. It's a whole algorithm around team needs, valuation, contracts, and then not taking on mediocre talent that is able to weigh the scale in to approval.

This has been always an interesting AI challenge for all the game developers. Wishing you great success on it!

Cheers

Thanks Chris. It's sure going to be the biggest challenge yet! I don't expect it to be perfected on the first try but hopefully it will be somewhat realistic.

Transfer needs

Today I've played around with how to set your transfer needs. It's probably going to be a dialog through the new Action menu at the Transfer page.

Needs will be specified by settings preferred position, type of player level and player role.

Do you think this has a chance to be relased by the end of the month?

After the latest update (1.1.8) trades are now top priority. A release to UAT at the end of the month doesn't sound impossible.

The trade and draft system will push the game to a higher level.

Looking forward to both releases.
