2011 Champions Bowl

Like before, the seeds were as follows:

1-4 = AL top 4 regular season teams
5-7 = BL top 3 regular season teams
8-9 = GL top 2 regular season teams
10 = OL pennant winner

Results

The Houston Bulls could not get it done in the Alpha League playoffs, but they stepped up big in the Tournament of Champions to claim the 2011 Champions Bowl. Interestingly, the playoffs went as designed, with the higher seed winning every series except in the Montreal versus Los Angeles series, which mirrored the AL playoffs.

2012 Spring Bowl

The 2012 Spring Bowl expanded to 24 teams with the top six teams from each league the previous season making up the teams.

Teams were ranked from 1-24 with the 2011 AL pennant winning Los Angeles Actors getting the top seed, all the way down to the sixth place team in the OL, the Buffalo Bears, getting the 24th seed.

Results

2012SpringBowlAWinners_zps65842b11.jpg2012SpringBowlBLosers_zps19913c65.jpg

The Honolulu Tropics used the momentum of winning the Beta League pennant and Gold Trophy to solidify themselves as a solid AL team heading into the 2012 season. Led by Ryan Braun and Tony Batista, the Tropics were hot and humid throughout the tournament, beating the Gamma League's top team from 2011, the Dallas Tycoons, 7-3 in the final.

As an interesting side note, the three pennant winners from the top three leagues in 2011, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Dallas, were the last three teams standing in the 2012 Spring Bowl.

2012 Champions Bowl

Like before, the Tournament of Champions Bowl consisted of ten teams based on that season's regular season results:

1-4 seeds were the top four teams of the Alpha League.
5-7 seeds were the top three teams of the Beta League.
8-9 seeds were the top two teams of the Gamma League.
10th seed was the pennant winner of the Omega League.

Miami was not able to win the Diamond Trophy following their impressive 2012 season, but the Towers took care of business in the Tournament of Champions Bowl to win the highest honors in the Champions Baseball Association.

MVP Antonio Rivera is a fictional player who entered the majors via the International Free Agents route. Besides winning the MVP of the tournament, he also finished third in voting in the AL for the Launch Pad Hitter Award.

In the 2012 regular season, the then 26-year-old had his best season of his three years at Miami. He finished the season with a .298 batting average and a .428 OBP (tops in the AL). He had 23 doubles, six triples (10th in AL), 22 home runs, and 74 RBI and scored 112 runs (1st in AL). He also led the league with 61 stolen bases and 107 walks.

2013 Spring Bowl

The 2013 season got under way with a bang, as some of the top seeds suffered early losses. Still, in the end, the tournament became an Alpha League face off.

The Dallas Tycoons catapulted their way from 2012 Beta League pennant winners to taking the 2013 Spring Bowl title. Led by the three-headed pitching monster of Roy Oswalt, Johnny Cueto, and Jordan Zimmerman, the Tycoons were able to subdue most teams' offense. Though their own offense is not lined with stars, Dallas had a few serviceable players in second baseman Jason Kipnis, center fielder Chris Young, and right fielder Jason Heyward.

Spring Bowl Past Champions

I started to make a history box for past champions of tournaments. I will attach the Spring Bowl past champions below with an added short summary of the tournament.

It was interesting to see that only six and seven seeds have won the Spring Bowl so far.
