Chicago sends:

3B Juan Francisco

Philadelphia sends:

SP Daniel Espino - R Clearwater

This was a tough decision to make, but one we feel will bring great benefit to us. We were looking for a significant bat to add to our infield, and while Francisco is pricey, we believe he is the best upgrade we can get at this time. Espino's tough to part with, but he is a couple years out, and we aim to compete next year. Thanks to Hodges for the quick deal.

The White Sox approve this deal.

We acquired Juan Francisco this offseason when looking for a big bat to put in the middle of our lineup.  While he's continued to produce a very high OBP, he just hasn't provided the production we were hoping for.  Although we don't get a ton back, we pick up a young arm just drafted with a lot of promise while -- most importantly -- getting rid of 100% of Juan Francisco's contract, which does not conclude until 2021.  That financial flexibility will help us try to quickly rebuild this team rather than do a complete tear down.

Thanks to Jack, also, for the quick and easy deal, and I hope Juan loves it in your park.
