In my opinion, one interesting cosmetic feature GPHM is missing are player faces. Given how we as managers build relationships with our players and how player Traits play into developing that further, player faces are a logical next step. That said, this is a very challenging feature to integrate into the game, though I know Anders has thought about it.

In the meantime, having played with it in the past, I decided to create FIFA - style player cards to commemorate my current GHL champion Red Tide squad. Not all players will be included, but the key figures are there.
The player attributes are lifted straight from GPHM. The player faces - the interesting part - are all generated through an AI algorithm called a GAN (generative adversarial network). In other words, none of these are real people, except in my (and now your) mind, when playing GPHM.
So rejoice - you now get to meet the players that you face on a weekly basis, in person.
Images are attached - have fun. I certainly did, putting them together. If anyone wants to do something similar for their team, reach out - I'll see if I can help.
    Cheers!
    Alex

Don't disagree with skater limit and salary increases.
But I think we are starting to veer off course. The intent of @zinnyzxx's original post was to highlight some examples of why teams promoting to GHL are currently f*cked when it comes to squad strength. Yes, the salaries are part of this, but there are two equally culpable elements:

    1) Smart relegating managers trading away one-way assets ahead of time, preventing them from going to FA, and 2) Hoarding players. The former can't be fixed unless we do something with transfer windows. The latter - can.
In the case of Fury above, the players aren't exactly GHL quality, and I have no problem with having a full AAHL-LEVEL team in the minors. Where I do completely support @zinnyzxx, is in the case of the other teams he mentioned, who have players in their minors who would walk into the top 6 of any recently promoted team. Yet, they are out of GHL rotation entirely, and the hoarding teams experience zero penalty, team confidence or otherwise, for keeping these players in AAHL - a league way below their level.
It would be less egregious if the managers in questions actually DID something with those players, but more likely than not, they just stay in the minors for a significant portion of their careers, and maybe a few eventually make their way out. This is damaging to the in-game economy. It's one of many elements that contribute to this damage, to be sure - not the only one - but it is the simplest to fix, in my opinion. So let's give @zinnyzxx some support and have Anders set a roster limit.

I am in agreement with this.  I think everyone who has responded so far is showing @zinnyzxx support and agrees with the issue by providing multiple solutions.  It's a topic that has been discussed for the past 3 years that I continue to discuss because I think it would greatly improve the game.  Luckily, in a recent chat with Anders, it seems like roster limits, as well as a few other things mentioned here, are on his "to-do" list.  So that's good.
But to dive in a bit - say the roster limit is set at 30.  That is not going to solve the issue, specifically with the Hawks.  Their roster is 31players, so they can just drop the 79 overall and move on.  All the rest are still in the affiliate.  Which is why I agree with @rainsilent that salary demands also need to come up in order to fully solve this.  The higher salary players ask for, the less players teams can sign (or they can still choose to sign many players, but their top talent won't be as good, and I'm fine with that strategy aspect).  Also, players turning 21 won't sign for as cheap or if they are 85+ overall maybe they shouldn't accept 2-way deals.  The reset started off great in this regard, but something was changed around S4 (S8 in buzzer), which made it too easy to sign players.  Right now, the salary demands of 21 year olds are just ridiculously low.  Even 88 overalls are signing SHL level deals, which is crazy.
So again, I think my solutions to the following issue are:
    1. Roster limit.  30 seems reasonable to me.
    2. Salary demands should be higher.  I don't know what the fix is here or if it can even be fixed at this point, but it would help to solve the "hoarding" issue.
    3. Players getting frustrated or unhappy easier - and having a greater impact on performance, if they don't already.

Roster limits is legitimately the only sane  and easy solution to this and it should be implemented ASAP.

These are super useful. Thanks for putting in all this work, the insight into the national teams is something that’s definitely missing in this game. Maybe Anders can look at this and finally implement national teams since you’ve done half the work here. May be worth asking him about it. Having a World Cup in the off-season would be extremely cool.

AlexanderRasputin reacted to Csizi96 in S9 Buzzer national teams
And finishing with some overall rankings, what power ranking are about. I did two different type of rankings.
One based on Paul's rankings, who I got the whole idea from: (Sum of top 4 centers + sum of top 8 forwards + sum of top 6 defensemen + sum of top 2 goalies)/20
The other is based on the positional rankings. I gave 1 point for the best team in every position, 2 for the second best, etc. then summed those.
Luckily there are no changes in the top 6, but later there are some, it looks quite interesting. Of course Canada is #1 in the power ranking, USA's consistency among positions earn them the #2 place, and Russia is #3. Interesting to see how high can go Norway with their goalies in the position based ranking, tied with Latvia from the 16th. position in the other.

And here it is the positional rankings. It was a long way to get here, but it feels amazing to look at the table
As it was predictable, Canada tops all rankings, second is USA almost everywhere, only the Russian goalie duo could leave their mark in the list, but their D-squad is only 7th on the list.. crazy. Behind the top 3 there is a tight race between Sweden, Finland and Czech Republic, so the top 6 really looks like top 6 here. Alsp at the bottom of the list: Italy, Belarus, Slovenia look like they are cemented there, and Norway is not far ahead of them. However the amazing Belarussian forwards or the heroic Norwegian goalies could pull one of them out of that lower table.
Some fun facts: Both Denmarks's centers (3rd place..) and goalies broke into the top 6, so they could do well, if their #13 defense is not letting them down in key situations. Also Switzerland has the 4th best D-squad, but who knows, maybe the mid-low centers and goalies could limit their potential.

  23. Thanks

Before the power rankings some average stats for age, height and weight of the squads.
Looks like the neighbor countries share the philosophies (Slovakia-Czech Rep. and Austria-Germany)  The latter 2 can cause some upsets with their young squad and surely physical play given their size advantage. Czechs and slovaks look like an experienced squad but they may need some refreshing in a few years. Finland and Canada looks like skill based on their lack of size. But without looking at ratings, this is rather some fun fact than a base of any analysis

After going through the GHL rosters, I refreshed the squads with the missing people. Some of the biggest names, and some fun fact:
Both USA and Czech Republic have a new starting goalie: Austin Matthew and head coach could persuade legendary Zikmund Bowman for one more world championships!. Germany have 2 new goalies as well, and a first line defender Marcus Kaya. Canada finally had to cut Zion Senior to be able to add Bandits' Michael Rogers..Russia got two new centers: Tselner and Pribylov. Finland also added a star forward Janhunen from Notthingham. Sweden found a pair of top forwards in Wiktor Fogelberg and Jesper Berch, plus leading D-man Jerry Drougge. Czechia has a new first line D-man too, Pauliak from the Fighters, and added top talent Novysedlák to the squad. USA: I talked about their new goalie, but they have no less than 3 changes in their D-squad: Letson, Lucia and Edson are the new faces.  Belarus added defender Nikita Drozd (they have the exactly same named guy in the forwards.. awesome), and forward Stankiewicz, plus a few depth guys. Ukraine have 3 additions as well: Andrusiak and Yiranek to the offensive power and talented Minyaylyuk in goal.
  25. Thanks

I guess it's just minor bug, that a few players is hidden in the all players tab. I don't think it's an issue, because we use that tab rarely, and it's really just a few players.
But the coaching staff decided to include Matei in the squad, because of that last minute change, Tino Willis got cut. To be honest, ratings wise I should have cut Zion Senior, but he is a living legend, while Tino is nervous and lazy. I hope you agree with going against my own rules on this  I also updated the roster picture with him
