Have you ever thought that Preseason has been a bit dull?  No pride or glory...... and certainly no fresh biscuits to eat!  Our world is clearly lacking in its namesake, so a group of us are having a pre-season friendly tournament to entertain us and thought we might as well drag you guys along for the ride as well. 
The teams involved this season are:
 
1. Pittsboro Plastic Attack - Long time BHL team freshly promoted from the 2nd spot, clearly threw the final games to get to 2nd and cover his mad ninja skills... . very sneaky!  We will have to keep an eye on him as it is rumored they use plastic swords to impale unsuspecting opponents during the game!  Watch those injuries!
 
2. Tullahoma Tomcats - Promoted in 1st at season's end and are letting everyone know it!  Coach Wendel thinks he is pretty awesome but he may have to keep that ego in check as he is up against some raw talent in this series.  His lads are clearly still in party mode and will need to ensure they get off the sauce if they want any chance of winning this prestigious piece of cra..... erm I mean this incredible trophy!  
 
3. Minnedosa Musketeers - SHL team for three seasons now and constantly riding Leopards coat tails.  It has driven them to depression where all manager Little signs are fat bastards that run over people and play for the garbage goals.  Some pundits give them a shot though, based solely on the fact there is biscuits involved and boy those boys love biscuits!  If they win good luck even making the locker room with them!
 
4. Deferiet Leopards - SHL team for three season and well established hard rockers!  When not on the ice you can catch them down at open mic night screeeeeeching on guitars and pretending they have vocal talent.  Probably the class of the tournament unless the hookers and blow get them.... ah the life of a celebrity!  
 
The rules for us are simple.... each team will play each other once in the pre season (I will do my best to keep an updated table in here.  Winner has the most points and if there happens to be teams level the tie breakers are results between teams level, goal difference and finally goals for.  If it is still tied after that I am going to set a poll up and we will all have a vote to see who wins!  We can't leave a tie at the top after all.... like any of us will play nice or share their biscuits!?!?!?!?
 
The draw is as follow first team is home:
 
Day 4 – 1 vs 2 (2-3 OT) and 3 vs 4 (5-3)
Day 5 – 1 vs 3 (2-4) and 2 vs 4 (2-0)
Day 6 – 4 vs 1 (3-4 SO) and 2 vs 3 (3-6)
 
In the event the home team doesn't send their game off..... please proceed to door number 3 where Olga the Norwegian Dom will whip you for your incompetence.

it has been so long that I don't remember what the base wages are per level anymore.  It is somewhere in the forum though I will have a look.  I do however have a good understanding of the salary jumps.
 
It matches the increase of salary cap which is 3.3 times I believe for that level "IF" the salary will be "below" the base wage for the next level after that calculation.  
 
If it ends up more than the base level after the previous calculation it is the higher value of these 2 options...
 
1. current salary x 1.25 
 
2. Promoted league's base salary

OK I was wrong... LIHL to IHL is just double in cap so is only times 2.  However a base salary is 25k in LIHL and 50k in IHL.
 
as 69k is already above the IHL base... it will be times 1.25 like you had said

But I think that more interesting is the fact that 7 out of 11 last PO finals (including this season) were between Vandals and Protons and only one final (in S12) was without either Vandals or Protons (since S4 inclusive). For me, this is impressive and I guess for the rest of the league, this is very annoying Sorry about that.

Great game for the GHL championship last night between Vandals and Protons.  Protons had it won (likely) had it not been for those two costly penalties in the 3rd and the 2 PPGs from Vandals that gave them the 1 goal victory.  
 
Trying to decide who to cheer for is a lot like watching the Knights-Caps series, either way, we all lose!  haha.

I think I will hang out in SHL a little more whit you Paul and Exxo, and with my 2 other relegated hawks friend, it will be the Savage hockey league

Not trying to throw shade here because I'm sure the manager was actively trying to accomplish this feat, but the Finnegan Beasts of the LIHL have successfully become the first team in Biscuit to finish 0-0-0-60.  After finishing 1-0-0-59 in three of the four previous seasons, the goal was finally accomplished.  I assume that is extremely hard to do, especially in LIHL.  Congratulations.

Congrats to Baden for knocking me off of my winning streak today! Methinks I will be turning up the forecheck in our rematch... grr

Some players are just greedy, which is good!  But now, most seem too cheap for their own good.  The whole point of contract negotiations is for a player reaching their peak, either in skill or ego, is they SHOULD ask for more.  I'm not sure how the engine works or if it is just based on individual player's requests.  It'd be cool if I offered a 90ovr player $3M a year that suddenly all the other 90ovr players start thinking, hmmm, maybe I should be getting that too, etc.  That is probably more difficult than coding individual players and likely why we have the current situation, but now it is too easy to keep an All-Star level team in GHL and then back stock players in the AAHL that should be GHL starters or too expensive and in the SHL as a Star.  I'd be all for a 10-20% cap reduction in the GHL.  

I totally agree with everything you said.  Just would be great if it was consistent across leagues.  I think a GHL cap reduction would help... and also something I've been harping on for a few months is when players are traded down from GHL to SHL, the salary shouldn't be 25%.  It should be at least 50% (I suggested the salary should stay the same, but other managers tore me up ).  Otherwise we are going to run into a scenario where it won't make sense for SHL teams to try and re-sign their own players or in free agency because the asking price will be too much and they will just attempt to build their team via trades with GHL.

Playoffs are here and contract extensions are happening again, so I'll keep at this.
 
Today in Biscuit GHL 9 players signed an extension - 7 of them took a pay cut.
A highlight from that bunch: 22yo, 96ovr d-man, on an already cheap contract, is fine with an extension that lowers his salary by ~16%. Why would a young superstar coming off a good season ever agree to something like that?

Currently in the GHL, the playoff structure looks like:

Series B: Rank 2 vs Rank 7
Series C: Rank 3 vs Rank 6
Series D: Rank 4 vs Rank 5
 
Series E: Winner A vs Winner B
Series F: Winner C vs Winner D

The current path ensures that there will never be the top 2 teams fighting it out in the finals. It also makes it so that the teams rank 4th and 5th have the highest chance at getting the easiest path to the cup. And since the 5th place team is also entered into a better playoff lottery compared to the top 4 teams, it makes it the ideal position from a purely playoffs and potential future success standpoint. My suggestion is to simply change the following series:
 
 
Series E: Winner A vs Winner D
Series F: Winner C vs Winner B

This is just becoming pure insanity.  We now have the same amounts of points and are separated by 1 goal differential.  Can we finish with the same amount of points 3 seasons in a row?
 
Two teams who play totally different tactics, totally different strategies, different types of players... the list goes on.
 
But let's add to it.  We also recently discovered that we are the same age, have pretty much the same exact profession, and our personal lives are pretty much the same with the exception of a 1 kid differential (3 vs. 4) to go along with our 1 goal differential.

The Leppards are in a tough spot as we battle it out with our long time rival the Musketeers for the 6th and final playoff spot, but we will have to do it without our #1 goalie as he was injured yesterday making a save and our backup hasn't had many good performances this season.  A few weeks ago we had decided to start playing for next season by trying a few different line setups, traded our draft picks and top scorer, and benching our older (best) defenseman to get some ice time for younger players... which explains why I am currently on a winning streak
 
Shout out to BHL & IHL as there are some tight races for promotion in those leagues as well.

Marauders got the SO win against Miners last night and clinch a playoff spot.  Still a tough battle for them to stay in 5th though. 
 
A Sabercats victory of any kind in any of the next three games will eliminate Elite from the playoffs.  But Elite have bigger problems, playing 13th place Miners who are only 2 points behind them and have outscored them 11-4 so far this season.  But if Elite can manage to win any points tonight, Breakouts can do no better than 13th.  Any point by the Breakouts puts Tomahawks out for good.  
 
Tonight's key matchup:
Sabercats (8th, 83 pts) vs Volcano (9th, 81) with 8th place on the line!  If Stray Cats stumble against Vandals, winner could jump to 7th!
 
Over in the SHL......
 
In last night's key matchup, Leopards (7th, 93) continued their winning ways against Dynasty Heroes (3rd, 106) to stay alive, but Bangers (5th, 97) and Musketeers (6th, 93) also won to keep their places.  Currently the difference between 6th and 7th is only 2 goals in the differential, so every goal is crucial!  
 
Tonight's Key Matchups:
Thundering Herd (2nd) at Admirals (1st).  An Admirals win and they all but guarantee themselves the SHL League Championship this year.  But the Herd have won 2 of 3 so far this season, so expect some fireworks!
 
Another marquee battle will be Musketeers at Dynasty Heroes.  Heroes have little to lose, but Musketeers have everything to gain in their quest for the playoffs.  In their 3 games this season, 28 goals have been scored by the two teams, so have the fire department on the ready because I expect another barn burner tonight!!!

In the SHL, there is also some excitement brewing even though the top two teams were decided several games back.  
 
But there is a real battle raging for the right to try and play up as the Bangers (94 pts, 5th), Musketeer (90), Leopards (90), and Eagles (87) all are trying to stay alive to play against the Dynasty Heroes and Mohawks in the 1st round of the SHL playoffs.  
 
Key Matchup Tonight:  Dynasty Heroes at Leopards.  A potential first round matchup and the Leopards have taken 2 of 3 against the Heroes so far this season.
