I was wondering the same thing, a standings table to see where our affiliate teams are ranked in the league.  Good suggestion, EXXEO!

TheWizard got a reaction from MattBerserkers in new here, have a few suggestions
Hi bremitt, don't feel bad, suggestions are always welcome!

Taking over a new team is tough because you inherit all the crap from the previous manager.  As you climb up the ladder, your roster size will almost automatically whittle itself down to a typical NHL size.  Signing contracts and balancing the salary cap are key, and the best teams are able to manage both while remaining competitive.  I choose quality over quantity, as I'm sure many other managers do.  I would rather pay more for each contract and have 23 top-notch players on my team as opposed to paying minimal contracts and having 39 players on my roster.  What the heck am I going to do with 39 players anyway?  They won't all get playing time, which will only stunt their growth.  Bottom line: not to worry, your roster will even itself out as you become more competitive.

I'm sure the GPHM staff and others will chime in on your suggestions, but in the meantime, there is a great general user guide put together by rainsilent, I highly recommend checking it out.

I agree, there are not many options for hockey management sims out there, but GPHM is tops on my list!

    It varies by league.

    LIHL/IHL/BHL/SHL
    - Top 2 teams automatically promote.
    - Teams ranked 3-6 have a playoff against each other (3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5).  Winner of each series enters a playoff against the teams ranked 13th and 14th in the higher league.  If the lower league team wins the playoff against the higher league team, the lower league team is promoted and the higher league team is relegated.  If the higher league team wins, both teams will stay in their respective leagues.
    - Teams ranked 7-12 have a playoff just for fun, no relegation/promotion on the line.
    - Teams ranked 15-16 automatically relegate.

    Example of the promotion/relegation playoffs:
LIHL #3 seed beats the #6 seed and faces IHL #14 seed.  LIHL #3 seed beats IHL #14 seed.  LIHL #3 is promoted, IHL #14 is relegated.

    GHL
    - Top 8 teams have a playoff to crown the league champion.
    - Teams ranked 9-12 do not have a playoff but are safe from relegation.
    - Team ranked 13-14 will face the winners of the 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 playoffs in the SHL to determine promotion/relegation (as highlighted above).
    - Teams ranked 15-16 automatically relegate to SHL.

Each playoff round is a best of three.

You're right, EXXEO, my team is not a faceoff powerhouse, but much like in real hockey, winning the draw is important, it gives you an immediate advantage.

My goal is to get more centermen who can win faceoffs.  Every little edge in this game helps!

    You got it, spot on.

Checking lines are lines that can hit, Grinders are good for Checking lines.

Energy lines have high spirit and high physical attributes.  Enforcers are good on Energy lines although any player type with high spirit and high physical are good for Energy lines.

    Hey everybody!

I finally decided to join the forums, even though I have been playing Game Plan Hockey Manager since June 2015, back when the worlds were named Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo.

I currently manage the Prairie City Steers in Clapper and the Dunkirk Sea Hawks in Lumber.

GPHM is one of the best online manager games, across all sports!  Thank you Anders and everyone in the community for making it a success!

Who else is with me in Game World Lumber?

The Energy setting is for your Enforcers and Grinders who dish out big checks/get in fights.  It amps up their teammates.

If I recall, Match Line on defense will match the playing style of the forwards on that exact same line.  So, if your forwards are set to Energy, your defensemen will follow suit.

Dynamic on defense is similar to TwoWay on offense.  Defensemen will play offensively and defensively.  This is ideal if you have defensemen who play the TwoWay role well (not Offensive or StayAtHome).

I have not seen a performance hit between forward positions, at least from what I can tell it's not a noticeable one.

Playing a D-man as a forward may be a different story, although if he is an offensive defenseman, he may be serviceable up front.  Likewise for a forward playing D, if he has a good defensive rating, he my be adequate.

Bear in mind, GPHM is still in a beta phase.  I have not seen any marketing of the game (correct me if I'm wrong), and I imagine marketing won't happen until after the beta is ironed out to a full release.

I got lucky and stumbled upon GPHM through a Google search for "online manager hockey game."

Right now, people are finding out about GPHM through searches (like me) and word of mouth.  So, if you to fill up Howitzer with humans, tell your family, friends, colleagues, whoever!

While GPHM lacks the visual bells and whistles of NHL 16, I find GPHM to be much more in depth.  Both games are good though!  I enjoy the community of GPHM, other human managers are much more intuitive than AI.

TheWizard got a reaction from TheWeekKnights in I didn't get the right pick in a trade
I guess the trick is to trade with the GHL team that finishes the season in 14th place, they avoid relegation, or trade with the SHL team that finishes 1st because they will be promoted.  Both have a good shot at the earning the first overall pick, however this is not a guarantee.  There is a lottery system, so even the 14th place team in GHL and 1st place team in SHL may not get the first overall pick.  As with any trade, it's a gamble.

I also like the idea.  To prohibit Game World Moderator abuse, there could be a system of checks and balances.

For example, the Mitts Mod may only be able to suspend managers/revert trades in Mitts, but he can view suspensions/reverts in other worlds.  If something smells fishy, the Mods can have a discussion.  Communication is key.  Make the Moderators part of a group where they can communicate with each other, either on the forum or in the game.  Anders would have the final say.
