  1. The 2015 Library has been updated on our site with stats through July. You can choose to download the current library, which has all of the latest stats and transactions for the 2015 season through July. Or you can update your current 2015 library replay with the latest players and transactions through July. Detailed instructions for both of these options can be found here: http://digitaldiamondbaseball.com/2015Replay.php Keep in mind, this library is meant to be played through July. As a result, any trades that happened at the very end of July will not be in this library. You have to wait until the next update (through August) to use players that were traded at the trade deadline. Enjoy!
  2. Version 5.0.5 of Digital Diamond Baseball was just release. This release contains several enhancements and bug fixes. Perhaps the most exciting change is an improved play-by-play engine. The updated engine adds new events that allow users to create even more sophisticated play-by-play during a game. Long time customer "Johnny Bravo" has released a new version of his custom play-by-play file that takes advantage of the 5.0.0 update. His play-by-play file can be downloaded from here: http://twikisandbox.com/do/view/DDBB/PbpVersion5 Here is a sample of an inning called by JB's custom play-by-play file. The game is part of a "play-at-home" league that is going on using 2014 stats: So here's Fowler. He entered the game batting .240 with 2 RBI... nobody down here in the Top of the 1st. Wainwright turns and delivers ... Line drive ... off the glove of Aybar ... and into left field for a base hit ... picked up by Zobrist ... and that'll be a single for Fowler ... despite what was almost a great play by Aybar. Now here's Heyward... nobody down. Fowler is on at first. Wainwright looks at Fowler ... Fowler has a good lead ... There goes Fowler ... the throw from Santana ... is a good one, but he beats it out. Heyward taking a moment to clean some dirt from his spikes ... And now he steps in to face Wainwright... nobody gone here in the Top of the 1st. Fowler at second. The pitch coming up ... the runner is off with the pitch... Ball four ... and Heyward trots down to first. So here's Cabrera... nobody down here in the Top of the 1st. Fowler is on at second. Heyward is on at first. Cabrera waits ... Wainwright turns on the rubber, and deals ... the runners are on the move ... Swung on ... And that ball is absolutely crushed to right field ... Cruz just turns and watches ... a towering Home Run for Cabrera! Fowler scores. That drives in Heyward. And Cabrera comes up with the big hit, the Gashouse Gang are on top now 3 - 0. Here's Posey... nobody down here in the Top of the 1st. Wainwright delivers ... Slow roller to third base ... taken there by Carpenter ... and he throws to Morneau to get him. Now here's Duda. He entered the game batting .303 with 2 HR and 6 RBI... one out. Wainwright delivers ... Swung on ... and there's a dunker to left field ... Zobrist got a great jump and is coming in a hurry ... and he puts it away for the out ... great hustle there! Here's Harrison... two down. The pitch ... Little roller behind the mound ... Aybar will make the play ... and he tosses over to Morneau for the out. And that'll do it. Wainwright finally puts out the fire, but the Gashouse Gang get 3 runs in the inning, and now they lead 3 - 0.

  5. In Derek Bain's book Hardball Retrospective: Evaluating Scouting and Development Outcomes for the Modern-Era, Derek has placed every ballplayer in the modern era (from 1901-present) on their original teams. Fortunately for the Digital Diamond Baseball community, Derek is also building Digital Diamond Baseball libraries for each season in his book, and is making these available for download for free! The first five seasons (1901-1905) are available now, and more libraries will be added over time. You can find the libraries here.

  11. "The Universal Baseball Association, Inc" library is now available for free for Digital Diamond Baseball. One of our customers (Rickengeezer) has created a player library based on the fictional baseball world created by Robert Coover's in his 1968 book "The Universal Baseball Association, Inc.: J. Henry Waugh, Prop." You can download the player library from our site at: http://digitaldiamondbaseball.com/libraries.php Here is short description of the player library as provided by Rickengeezer: Often hailed as one of the best baseball books of all time, it tells the story of J. Henry Waugh, an accountant who immerses himself in his fantasy baseball league every night after work. This library is patterned on the fateful 56th season of the UBA, but precise statistical information on the players in the league is largely absent in the book. Thus, rather than a true simulation of Coover's universe, this library is an approximation--but one that uses the names, positions, and descriptions of the ballplayers to guide the selection of statistics for ballplayers like Maggie Everts, the bowlegged old catcher, or star centerfielder Witness York, who led the league in slugging percentage.Virtually every player mentioned in Coover's volume is included in this league, although it should be noted that many of these players were "historical" figures in Henry's fantasy--nonetheless, all are included in this UBA season. In order to round out the full league, other players are also included, but an effort was made to maintain consistency with the naming conventions and player characteristics found in Henry's project. The eight UBA teams play an 84-game schedule, as they did for Henry. But, perhaps the fate of the players will be different in different hands.
